I've been at The Heron 5 times over the past 7 years, 3 of them in the past half year. The quality of the food is really good and the portions are large. It's a bit pricey, but they don't skimp. The service is efficient and friendly. The atmosphere is nice, but a bit cramped since it's very popular. The hours are somewhat limited--it stops serving food by 8 p.m. Reservations are recommended!

This was our first time here. The room is small The atmosphere and decor is very festive, Christmas theme. The ceiling has huge Christmas balls hanging It nicely done. While we did not have a reservation, they were able to accommodate us. What impressed me was with the number of patrons, and music playing, we were able to have a conversation without straining to hear each other. I had the beet salad and throughly enjoyed it. My husband had a tuna sandwich which was also good. It came with a side salad. I would suggest if you go on a weekend to make a reservation. I would go back but perhaps during the week.

Absolutely fantastic! Food is top notch and the dining area has an old school charm. Cheeseburgers are sooo good. I wish I could come back more often but I live abroad.

Biscuits, buttermilk pancakes, the potato & spring garlic soup, and the classic Heron mac and cheese were phenomenal!
We also tried the veggie and mushroom burger which were ok.
Do make reservations ahead of time. FYI, they have a policy of charging $20 per person if you don’t show up. Even with reservations, it did take about 50 minutes for our food to come out.

One of our fave places to eat in the area! The macaroni & cheese is legendary, the atmosphere can’t be beat with warm & local vibes and Marla is amazing. The Heron has gotten us through the pandemic & long, cold upstate winters. Can’t recommend enough! Insider tip: the chicken tenders are AMAZING & sell out fast, so make your reservations early.

Went with a couple families and had a great experience. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to our group. The biscuits were amazing, we kept ordering more! Also highly recommend the corned beef hash and the Mac and cheese, which everyone agreed was the best thing on the table!

Have to say at first we thought oh no not sure about this place. Well then we wanted the Salmon but it was after 7 pm on a Thur night and they where sold out. Ok then we were not for sure , We’ll let me just say 2 got the chicken and love it. Discovered it on drive through the amazing scenic route. A perfect stop on a fall foliage trip. Situated in a tiny Town this place will make you go back. The food is amazing. Wish I could try all the items on the menu. The cocktails are definitely a winner too. Brown derby was made to perfection. Great service and great food.

Delicious. Everything we all had. The pancakes were our favorite. Although I forgot to take a pic. The crust on the mac and cheese I could snack on all day.
The town is super cute. This place fits right in. But its definitely not cheap.
