Great indian taste. Ambience is not that great. Staff is very courteous and helping. The food is very competitively priced. Paper dosa was awesome. Kids loved it since the food was medium to low spiced - just as we like. And the great filter coffee taste to top it all off.

So ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Biriyani at the Schaumburg location, was told to pick up in 30 minutes. Drove through rain and fog to reach the place, only to be told that there is no such order in the system. The manager, arrogant and pompous in his white shirt, tells me that I must have called the order in at a different location. When I show him the number that I called (which was the correct one), he deigned to go into the kitchen. Comes back to tell me that the person who took the order is new, and they dont serve Tikka Masala at this location (despite it being on the menu on their website). He condescendingly tells me that I can have the the Butter Chicken, which is basically the same as the tikka masala (Serves me right for ordering 'north' Indian food from a 'south' Indian joint), and he can give that to me instead, but the wait would be another 30 minutes. No sign of the Biriyani either. I am fuming by now, exacerbated by the attitude of the arrogant ass of a manager. I decline his offer for the lookalike tikka masala, and as I turn to walk out of the door, I tell him that this is going onto social media. He smirks and tells me "Do whatever you feel like, we dont care" (maybe not the exact words, but you get the idea). I ask the waiter for the name of this epitome of customer service, and the guy rushes in to say its John Smith (or may be John Cena, i couldnt understand his thick fresh off the boat south of Vindhayas accent). His name is Raj btw, the waiter had mentioned it before John rushed in. As I left the the restaurant, I could hear him yelling at the waiter and the poor newbie who had taken the order. 4 patrons who sat eating there, smiled weakly at me, and shrugged a shrug I had not seen since I left India (you know the shrug, the "what can we do' one). I have been in Schaumburg for 6 years, and eat out at least once a week (this was probably my tenth visit to this Dakshin). Never have I seen such utter lack of caring, and this total disregard for the paying customer. If the owners are even slightly bothered about their reputation, they should do something about Raj, he is no SRK for sure

I ordered 170 pooris @ $0.50 a piece. I was promised by the cook and the manager/owner that the size would be at least quarter plate size. I picked it up and did not open the trays to verify simply out of trust. Also paid them cash. When I reached home and opened the tray, they were half the size. Not only that there were pieces (like the left over from a plate of dough) as well. Once I called and complained, they apologized and agreed to refund money ($34.00, to be exact). Beware, these days is my comment!

Had a buffet last month on a weeekend. Place was nice and clean, location was not so good. Vegetarian food was 5/10, Non veg items although very few but were really nice. Fish CUrry and Tandoori Chicken was nice. Not much to say about deserts.

Worst restaruant. Would have given zero rating if I had the choice of putting here. First of all worst customer service, as they couldn't take to go order on phone when the restaurant is more than half empty saying that they were busy. Secondly, when I went for dining they wouldn't acknowledge to take order even after waiting for 15 mins. Also a customer beside us had to leave as the serving person brought the bill without informing

I usually order take-outs from here. Found the food to be perfect every time. Love their dosas. Quick preparation. They seem to have buffet and tiffin options too, for those who are interested.
