This place was fantastic! We stopped here for lunch and it was our introduction to Mystic, CT. And what a way to begin! Since it was lunch, we sat in the downstairs pub, which was small, but very quaint and comfortable. It was the food that was the star of DPI. My husband has Celiac disease, so he had researched them the night before and discovered that they had so many options for him. I ordered the Roasted Cod (but not the gluten free version, so I could not share it with him). It was the best cod dish I have ever had! My husband had the Hunt Harvest, which was a plate of boar sausage, duck breast, and antelope osso bucco. I did get to try it, and each meat dish was delicious. Not to be missed were the vegetables served as side dishes. The veggies were so fresh, I would have sworn they were picked just before cooking! Lunch was so good, and my husband really wanted to try the Roasted Cod, that we went back for dinner. He enjoyed the Roasted Cod (even though it was made gluten free for him) as much as I had. I opted for the Baked Onion Soap and Lobster Pierogis, which were both fabulous. Another great touch was the basket of toasted gluten free bread the waitress brought out so that we could enjoy the entire head of roasted garlic they serve with their bread. Everything was delicious, the staff was very pleasant and accommodating, and after lunch, we even had the opportunity to get a tour of the historic house from Chef Mark, the Executive Chef, which was not only a great bonus and surprise, but showed how much he truly loves his job. Daniel Packer Inne was a completely wonderful gem that we were elated to discover!!

My 18 year old daughter and I enjoyed a mid afternoon meal there yesterday. Didn't know what to expect - I'm usually a bit pessimistic. But to our surprise we had a wonderful meal and every dish was better than the last. I must give a shout out to the lobster mac & cheese. Not only the creamiest and loveliest orecchiette (pig's ear) pasta and sauce, but the most generous serving of lobster we've ever seen! Big chunks and claws - not the usual little bit or two that where a customs to when ordering lobster mac & cheese for lobster bisque. Myself and the handful of others in the pub that afternoon were all enjoying the piped in music. I asked the bartender what it was and it is Syrious radio and the station is called "The Bridge"; and I think she said they play it every Thursday. I was born in 1963 and all of these tunes took me back to 'the day'. so along with most everyone else, I was singing along to every word. (You've got a friend sung by CK,50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Change Partners/Stephen Stills, Kiss is On My List (or some other 1980ish Hall and Oats tune, One of These Nights/Eagles...) The service was terrific also. I'd recommend it for sure if you're in town. Oh And if you stay at "The Brigadoon" bed and breakfast just up the street, (also quite lovely) you get a free dessert when you buy two dinners.
