Barn Door

Today was our first visit to The Barn Door Restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The outside is very unassuming, almost neglected even. The inside is what you'd expect from a small hole-in-the-wall place, accompanied by its usual list of "could use improvement" tidbits (better lighting in the restrooms, cleaner, etc). The appetizer was mac and cheese wedges, which was quite good to start. I ordered a double cheeseburger and I must say, it exceeded my expectations up to that point. You can tell this is locally sourced quality beef. It was tender and flavorful despite the patties being thick and cooked completely through. The bun was also locally sourced and was delicious. The toppings were fresh, tasty and crisp. Their french fries stole the show. Top tier quality. Super crispy exterior, tender and perfectly cooked interior. My wife ordered a hot beef sandwich and she was equally pleased with that. I'm happy to say we will be putting this establishment on our list for earned return visits.

Wife and I stop here whenever we are in the area. The food is excellent. The staff very friendly. I have danced with my wife to the "jukebox" with thousands of songs available. They have a pretty good selection of craft beers on hand (which does rotate in and out various selections). This last trip I tried the Hemptail craft beer and found it quite delicious! Highly recommend a stop at this unassuming little restaurant if you get the chance. Oh yes, almost forgot...if you like blue cheese, trying the loaded chips is a must! You can thank me later. :)
