Came up to Montello and thought I was in a food desert with just one grocery store until we found this gem, Great coffee, cake, & beer, and the two coolest people on earth own the place. I never met such enlightened, sustainable, and down to earth people. It's a general store for the health conscious with a wonderful atmosphere and lovely view of the river in the back seating area. They really do have a little bit of everything. Highly recommend and will visit again! You should too!
Found this adorable place from my maps app on my iPhone under "coffee shop" Literally the perfect little gem of a place! Enjoyed a delicious iced mocha latte (all natural!) and some great conversation with the owner. There was a wonderful selection of all natural and organic products as well as some fresh produce which I am very excited to cook up. Even some signs for live music and poetry slams....a great little shop and nice addition to downtown Montello!! ✨
Food was delicious and filling. We had their Pumpkin Minestrone soup and it was delightful! I had their Green Power Smoothie and I found it very yummy but it wasn't too my boyfriend's taste. Staff was very friendly and chatted with us. Prices were very reasonable considering everything is homemade and organic.
One of the only healthier restaurants in town without any compromise on flavor. Very creative recipes with a nice menu variety. Chef/cooks are truly artists. Love the little shop and also they offer local entertainment. The family that runs it is so nice and I love their chai (not too sweet). I hope they are here forever!
Nice family-run place with food that's uncharacteristic of small midwest towns. The food is made with natural organic ingredients and is delicious-- some of the best I've had in a long time. Things can be made to order and the prices are very reasonable. The baked goods tasted like baked goods should-- like butter and eggs, not like processed oils. I wish this place was close to my house.
Best French Toast, maybe ever! Also great grilled cheese, excellent coffee.

There's a stage for open mics and an outdoor patio with the Fox River running just below. Really nice spot all-around.
Great place for local food and local/healthy grocery items. All their food is made from scratch using local/organic products. They have a decent selection of tea, coffee, wine, and beer either for dining in or for purchase. Their grocery and bulk selections are high quality. This is a smaller store but they have a great variety of items. We have really enjoyed their cultural dinner nights and live music!
This is one if the unique places that grace Montello. The food is VERY good. I admire the thinking of the owner here. Not sure about smthg to do with the food, it will be handled and very well. When I requested something extra on a burger I ordered, I found my request tweaked just a bit and was beyond surprised and glad it was. The person behind the scene KNOWS food. Hats off to you. It is a jewel of a place. Note: Alwys keep in mind the hours here. It is scheduled hours and days. Well worth it.
