The food was amazing! We ordered the pork belly appetizer and it was divine. I ordered the duck with blackberry sauce with the winter salad and truffle fries. It was my first time eating duck. It was delicious. All the flavors were perfectly balanced. I’m not a salad person, but even the salad was delicious. The truffle fries were pretty good, but I can’t say that I’d order the fries again. My husband ordered the lobster and steak with the pear salad and a potato. His salad, lobster, and potato were all amazing. But to him the steak was the only thing that was lacking. Granted he’s used to grain-fed steaks, and there’s a high chance this was an organic grass-fed one. Organic steaks have a different texture and taste than a grain fed steak. For dessert we ordered the lava cake and we weren’t disappointed! It was so good! All in all, we hope to return to High Point because the overall experience was on point and simply amazing! 😍

Really great place for date night-- romantic and delicious food. Blackberry duck and the steak Diane were both delicious. We also had the slab of bacon appetizer which is perfectly flavored with balsamic and cabbage. The meals come with soup or salad, and I particularly liked the lobster bisque because I could detect the sherry in it. We each had drinks (the sweet peach tea, you can't taste the booze but the sazerac is nice and strong lol). For dessert, we had the chocolate lava cake, which was served with vanilla ice cream and was a chocolate lovers dream come true. Service was excellent and we both left stuffed. Awesome place for a special occasion, and highly recommend a reservation as this place stays busy always.

Exceptional food, lovely and intriguingly historic atmosphere, very good service. A bit pricey but well worth the experience. Not really a restaurant for kids but perfect for a fancy date.

Wow!! I went there for the cool atmosphere, history and experience. I stayed for the food! Service was exceptional, steaks were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The cheese grits were phenomenal. Seriously, the best I have ever had. I highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in the Mobster history and / or wants a high end first class meal.

This was the high point of my day driving from Illinois to Florida. I picked it because of the atmosphere but the food was the real treat. As we were waiting for our dinner, my eyes darted toward the hallway. Young women in vintage party dresses were walking down the hall. I looked again and they were gone. Were they ghosts ? If they were it was such a cozy and intimate atmosphere, Al Capone use to frequent during prohibition. The house has quite a history with tunnels and secret hatches running underneath it toward the rail roads. Now, for the important part of this review, the food was superb. I had the steak Diane. and the filet was cooked to perfection (medium rare) in a burgandy mushroom sauce. The menu said it was in a spicy cream sauce. It wasn’t spicy. The vegetable that accompanied the filet was Bok Choy with tiny radishes in sweet spicy chile glaze. Amazing !! I was going to get an old boring baked potato but I was so happy I got the chef’s veggie choice. The service was also wonderful and friendly. We walked in at 8:15 pm on weekday night. The server friendly and did not rush us even though it was late and they close at 9:00 pm weekdays.

Food was good not exceptional. Service was good and quick. It lacks some touches..... coffee on saucer, where do you put your spoon, way too many lights in the dining room

This place is one of the best restaurants in the entire country. Excellent service and award winning cuisine. Definitely get the pork belly appetizer and any type of steak on the menu. You’ll talk about the food you ate here for years.

3 ⭐️ - one and done experience the atmosphere and servce were great but the food was just average overall. the duckbreast, bibb blt salad, and chocolate lava cake were the highlight of the evening but the porkbelly and steak were average. A solid choice when in monteagle but would not go on a roadtrip for it.
