Had never been to OCI until new owners took over, but now we've been there several times. Old World charm in a beautiful location on bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.
We've tried many things on the menu now and never been disappointed and loved every meal. The perch dinner is SUPERB! It's kind of a rarity now days, but they also have one of the best salad bars we've ever experienced.
An added bonus...Owners, Erich & Trish greeted us and made sure everything was to our liking. Wasn't just us...noticed they seemed to greet and talk to all the customers.
Wait staff each time was professional and charming.
Prices very reasonable.
We had some very good wine each time we visited and were pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices.
We'll be back for sure and highly recommend OCI to everyone.

Love the cozy, cottage feel. Love the people and the atmosphere. Everyone who visits us asks to go to the OCI (primarily for the perch). Local flavor, local food, great choices, good old fashioned food at a responsible price. Owner operated for 28 years - really a close knit community from owners to staff. (Says a lot when the wait staff has been there so many years - low turnover!) Thank you, OCI. You make every meal special. :)
I wish I had taken pictures of the wonderful dinner we enjoyed. While our dinner was really very, very good, the experience, location, service and visit from the owner, we're outstanding. Well worth the ride from Grand Rapids.
A gem of the area with superb service! I had the walleye, and I dare say it was THE best I have eaten in my entire life! Breading was PERFECT! Tried the perch, also very great! BEST tartar sauce I've ever had, now my standard! Cheese curds and salmon dip also fantastic!
If you're in the area, go here and NOT be disappointed!!! You owe it to yourself!!!
One of our favorite places. Usually get to this area once or twice a year from NE Indiana. Food and service always amazing. Owners are wonderful and Eric has come of with some amazing drink concoctions!!
Incredible food and drinks! Their bartender Carson was excellent and made the best espresso martini I’ve ever had! We had the The Walleye, London Broil, calamari and a brownie sundae and it was the best I’ve had for everything. Their food is fresh and the atmosphere is great and laid back. We will absolutely be back again.
Funny story, this was actually my first job 26 years ago as a dishwasher. Came back to town for my 40th birthday party and while taking the kids to the beautiful Lake Michigan Swim and Sunset, plus the magical Pigeon Hill to climb a couple times. We adults decided to dip into Old Channel Inn and have a Summer Shandy or three!
This is our favorite MI restaurant. We never miss the opportunity to have dinner here! We love the owners. Looking forward to another great cocktail in a few weeks!
I had the walleye and it was perfect! Try the homemade bread pudding if you're not to full. Great service.
Cozy restaurant off the beaten trail. Fave for locals. It was good for a family dinner. Bar area nice too. Walk down the sandy trail to see the sunset over Lake Michigan. Pure Michigan secret spot!!
Visited OCI this past weekend and had the Reuben sandwich, which was awesome. I believe they slow roast the corned beef in house. Was super moist and tender, melted in my mouth, very flavorful! My boyfriend ordered the salmon blt and shared a bite with me. That too was very flavorful. I know many locals are unhappy about OCI taking baked potatoes off the menu and whatever else has been changed, but change is good. They've replaced baked potatoes with other items and the salad bar IS offered on the weekend. I love that the new owners are switching things up. We don't have that many choices in our immediate area for restaurants. It was refreshing to go somewhere locally that offered some different choices on their menu.
The lake perch was fantastic. Owner/manager was very accommodating and got us drinks while we waited for a table
