Pollman's Bakery

I was one of the first customers in the door today and was greeted by a great selection of breakfast pastries and a few ready-made sandwiches. I tried a bear claw, a blueberry danish, and a fried apple pie. All were sweet and fresh, but the fried pie was a little bit of a disappointment...more baked than fried and without those crispy edges a good fried pie has. I was hoping for some breads to choose from, but I may have gotten there too early. Will try my luck again...the bake shop is just a short walk from my house.

I needed a cake for my wife’s birthday and after a quick search online, I figured I would give Pollman’s a go. When I arrived, I noted that they had classic birthday cakes on hand that could be decorated with a message but I decided to go with the cookies and cream shown in the pics. The staff was courteous and attentive and I was in and out with the cake without issue. My wife and I enjoyed the cake, the frosting was creamy and delicious and the cake was moist. Recommended.

Ordered a cake on Feb 25 for March 12 to be picked up at 12. Arrived around 12. After they located it. It wasn't ready. I know places are shorthanded and over worked. But it was placed 2 weeks in advance. Then to have the manager basically tell me " we're shorthanded wish I had a better answer " as to why I waited a hour past time for my order. The cake was delicious but the lettering looked rushed. But overall the cake was a success at the party they made me late for.

We live about 30 miles across the bay but found ourselves in mobile. The interstate was backed up a good waze before the tunnels we thought it would be the perfect time to exit and go to pollmans bakery. We hadn't been in a number of years. IF YOU ORDER A HEAD FOR THE DOBOUSH CAKE ( pronounce it dough- bosh) IT IS ONE TO REMEMBER!! We simply purchased 5 petifores Felt 14$ was a little pricey for 5 bites of cake but it is a bakery and it carries a good reputation. THEY WERE SO STALE!!. WHEN MY HUSBAND CANT EAT IT THERES SOMETHING TERRIBLY WRONG!!!. we threw them away. If we didnt live as far away as we do I would have returned them. The 3 young ladies behind the counter were very friendly and was having to handle an unruly man that was a customer at the time. They kept it very professional. But I won't WAISTE my time going back. And it was a true WAISTE.. Honestly. It took us over 40 minutes to get back on the road and through the tunnel so we could get home

Pollman’s has under delivered consistently for me! we have ordered two cakes for Important birthdays and the cake designers have tried to ruin the day twice now! I have been getting pollman’s cakes since my very first birthday 20 years ago. I love there taste but the design of these cakes are unacceptable! I am an artist so when I am told a cake will look like the picture I give you and I revive the cake and it is no where near the same! I get very upset! The design of the cakes I received from pollman’s were disrespectful and just lazy they couldn’t even take the time to attempt to match the colors even though I specifically asked for an exact color match! The icing on the cake was lumpy not smooth and see through thin. Not to mention the cake was leaning to the side! I thought I would be a pollman’s customer for life but I will no longer be recommending them. I think I might have to find a new local bakery I’m so sad and very disappointed!

Thank you Miss.Tiny for helping me put my daughter bday cake order together. I added the doll and pearls but every thing else was great except for the pink icing flavor was a bit much of food color flavor but next time I will order a lighter icing color. All in all this cake is beautiful and moist. Will order again 💙!
