I love this atmosphere. The darker room gives off romantic and cozy vibes. You almost forget where you are when inside because the setting feels very private. The portions are huge, the wine selection is great, the servers are friendly and the food is prepared with great care. If you have leftovers most heat up really nicely and you get to relive your dinner all over again. I love the chill vibe and want to eat here every night.
I don't know where to start. How about with the Apple & Honeycomb salad! It was delicate yet full of flavor and ample for the first course. The wine selection was decent with a broad cross-section of wines which paired well with menu choices. For an Entree, we chose a halibut which was cooked in paper. It was tender and absolutely wonderful. It helps when the chef is an owner.
The Main menu offered six delicious well rounded choices and many of the selections rotate on a daily basis. What a joy to sit down, make a choice, order a drink and get on with the evening.
This was our first time experience here and with Jazz in the lobby every other Wednesday, we will be back. Sooner than later.
All I can say is you are missing out! This place is hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to and I'm a traveling foodie. The ribeye was the best steak I've had hands down and that says a lot. The owner Josh offers exceptional hospitality, fantastic food and a great wine selection. I felt at home. I live 3 hours away but will be coming back just for this place.
Came here right after opening and the service was wonderfully attentive (we all know how new restaurants can be...). It was a nice feature that one of the owners came around to every table several times during our meal, but felt weird that he never stopped or spoke to my husband and me.
We got the special squash salad that was excellent, and shared 3 shareable plates plus dessert.
Mexican, Italian, French, it’s a little eclectic but each dish was done well. The wine selection was much smaller than the previous tenant’s list, but I enjoyed both wines I tried.
Loved everything I tasted and with our party of 8 I got to taste a lot of the menu. Our rib eye was hands down one of the BEST steaks I have ever had. We also had the sticky toffee and the creme brûlée and I will be dreaming about both those heavenly desserts! Great atmosphere, great food...new fav place!
We had an amazing dinner! The Brussel sprouts and calamari blew us away. A party of 5 then split two ribeyes and 2 salads. It was a perfect amount of food and the ribeye was done to perfection. Our server Katherine timed everything perfectly. Thank you; it was a memorable meal.
Once in a Blue Moon I get to take myself out to dinner. By myself. I enjoy the quiet time with myself and like to pick a restaurant I haven't been to before. Being a retired restaurant chef, I like try places that are innovative and make simple recipes extraordinary. I had heard good things about Second Set Bistro but hadn't been there yet and decided to make this my try alone restaurant, enjoy dinner and read. I kept an open mind and didn't look at the menu before going. The menu is small but exciting. I decided to skip an appetizer and have the ceaser salad as an app and it was so good. I am not sure I can explain how the flavors were both individual yet melded together to make a light and flavor dressing. It was just so yummy. For dinner I went with a dish I haven't had in about 15 years. It was the Pork Milanese and it didn't disappoint. First off it was beautiful. A nice chunk of lemon, the smoked trout tonnato on one side and a nice lemon juice dressed bunch of Frisee. Most people would have thought the frisee was just a weird garnish but it was an important part of the dish. The bitterness of the frisee helped cut the richness of the dish. It was perfect. I actually got a chance to tell the chef how much I enjoyed it. I sat alone at the bar and he came out a couple of times. I thanked him for how wonderful the meal was and we chatted a few moments and he told me that the Pork Milanese was the first dish that he conceptualized for the restaurant. It was just a wonderful meal and experience. I can't forget the strawberry short cake with the home made strawberry ice cream, it was a wonderful and not too sweet end to the evening. I really enjoyed myself. 5 stars plus
Truly delicious food! Expertly seasoned, fresh, inventive, and great menu. Don't miss the street corn or whipped lardo potatoes. Summer succotash was terrific! Not a single mediocre bite!
