Double Front Cafe

This place is one of the best places to eat in Missoula. Don't be in a hurry because it takes about a half hour to get your chicken but totally worth the wait time. This is some of the best fried chicken one can imagine. Everything is cooked to order and is fresh. I have been going for years and will continue to go as long as they are open. Highly recommend this place. The cheeseburgers are excellent as well. Kids meals are top notch. Everything on the menu is very good

This place is a go to for my family and I. They have provided great service up until recently. We went to Double Front last night (5/9/22) after my daughter's T-ball game which was around 7pm. Upon arriving we walked in and there were empty dirty tables all over the place with only 1 table being occupied. There was a blonde young girl that came over and seemed very inconvenienced that she had to even wipe down one table for my family. It doesn't even stop there, not only did the tables remain dirty seriously all night, she wasn't even busy at all, I would just call it being lazy, but she never even made us feel welcome at all! She never once checked on us, when we would call out to her for a side of ranch she didn't even say anything she just went back in the kitchen and threw the little cup of ranch at my husband. I was beyond mad at this point. I felt like such an inconvenience to her that I didn't even want to ask her to refill my water, the way we were treated for just being customers was just flat out completely unacceptable.... Finally at the end my husband asked for a box, she brought the baggy to put our food in and laid the tab down. After waiting for 10 minutes, I walked to the counter where there was another customer standing there waiting to ask for silverware. She appeared from behind where the cooks are and grabbed my ticket and I paid for my meal. I threw the tip into the cook's bowl as I thought they deserved it over her! At this point there were 3 tables total including us that she was serving yet all the other tables were still dirty and all 3 tables had to hunt her down for anything. The table behind ours even made the comment after asking for a coke refill that she must be having a bad night. Overall our experience was horrible last night, I hope that they can get to a point where their service and cleanliness improves.

While the food was awesome as always, the service was more than a little lacking. We phoned in our dine-in order and was told we'd be looking at a forty minute wait time. We arrived 30 minutes later, announced our presence, were seated, and spent the next 45 minutes waiting for our food to finally arrive. Additionally, trying to get straws for our drinks or ketchup for our fries took a few tries each. Trying to be as fair as possible, the dining room was about half full, though that shouldn't have been a problem. We ended up missing out on the rest of our plans for the night as a result.

6/22/21: Popped in for a quick bite. Ordered the half dark meat with cole slaw. Cole slaw was standard packaged slaw with poppy seed dressing however the chicken was really good. Cooked to order. The breading is light and crunchy. Meat very tender and juicy. Fries were also crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

If you’re craving chicken this is the place to go, it’s fantastic! This is not your typical restaurant chicken, frozen and thrown into the fryer. This tastes better than anything we’ve had and yes it takes a few minutes longer, but for fresh and great tasting chicken it’s worth it! The sauces are also made in house and tastes great. But no restaurant would be complete without some friendly great service and they truly delivered! Wish we weren’t just passing through Missoula as we’d be back to try the fried chicken the following day!😀
