This place is a historic mainstay on Lyndale for a reason. It’s looking a little rough around edges these days, but is worth a stop if you’re looking for hearty Chinese food and cocktails served in a cozy, charming, tucked away environment.
Service was helpful and friendly when we went on a Tuesday evening, although a bit slow and inattentive as we finished up. There’s room for improvement here.
The food hit the spot. I highly recommend the chicken wings which are crunchy, meaty, and served hot. The sizzling platter left something to be desired, as it wasn’t really sizzling and was a bit too soupy and salty. Nevertheless, it was a good dining experience overall.
It’s a bit gritty to be sure, and yes, the tables are a bit sticky, but the bathrooms are clean, the food and drinks are good, and there is a glowing red heart to the place. We didn’t sit at the bar which seems like it’d be fun on a Friday night. The cocktails and shots have eye-catching names that you’ll have to see for yourself.
There’s better value elsewhere to be fair but Red Dragon is certainly treasured here at the corner of 22nd and Lyndale.
The food is still very good, but not like it was in the 90's! Egg foo yung was the best back then! It had more vegies and the edges were fried differently. Lo mein is great! But, the cream cheese puffs are tough and hard to eat. However, i find Red Dragon is still the place to eat Chinese!
Do yourself a favor and get the wonton soup and Mongolian beef. Try not to have more than one wondrous punch. They're dangery in multiples.
There's a nice Asian girl that always work there as the bartender every time I visit, she's really pretty but I think she's stealing from the register....
Sometimes she closes early, every time someone paid for a drink I seen her put the money in her bra and not the register. I'm assuming she's just not entering the drinks into the P.O.S and taking home more than what's made. I guess that's the good thing about small businesses there's more flexibility so the management doesn't care.
Wonderous Punches are flowing again! Service was a bit slow for the reopen. I expect it to be better by the weekend. Come out and support your favorite bar!
Absolutely delicious. We went here for my sister’s birthday and the food was delicious. I had the Mongolian beef and she had the chicken wings and chicken fried rice. Everything was delicious and fresh. The waitress got us everything we wanted and promptly. The drinks are huge and definitely strong but also really good. I will definitely be back the next time I come to Minneapolis.

I came to eat later in the evening after work. Was somewhat busy. The food was delicious and my server very kind. They only had 2 servers on so I think they were a bit busy so some things were a bit slow. The booths are kind of broken from wear I almost fell through the seat. Was pretty spendy as well. All in all I had a decent experience and will go back for that fried chicken.
Fair pricing, large portions, quick service. definitely a hole in the wall but worth the visit if you’re looking to try something new in the neighborhood.
This place was great the waitress were incredible, nice nd quick. If you want a good experience this is the spot!
The food is phenomenal. The wings are seasoned to perfection. The prices are sky high though. And everything is priced separate. Cool environment and great owners.
The environment was peaceful and clean the staff was courteous and the food was delicious
Quick service at the bar. Great happy hour. Friday at 5pm bar was half full and filled up about 6pm. I ordered the sampler app for 2. Everything thing was cooked perfect. Side sweet and sour sauce was not my favorite, very thin. I use to make a late night stop before COVID and always loved the fried rice and share a huge wonder punch cocktail.
My mom and I have been going to Red Dragon since I was a little girl. My mom orders the same thing every time. Even back then Shrimp and lobster sauce. I love the lo main. Great food. Great service. We will always come back as long until we can't come at all.
The wings are 🔥. Also one of the few Asian dive bars left (outside of dwntn area) with awesome fishbowl drinks.
When you’re thinking of getting that second Wondrous Punch, don’t. Don’t do it. Appreciate the first one that has emboldened you to think you should have another. If you’re thinking that way, then it’s working and move on to water. That way you’ll be ready for shots at the CC Club. And call a taxi when you’re done. Stay safe out there.
