Yummy food. The menu entrées are great. Only tried their buffet once and didn't like it. Great service.
Although we waited 10 mins to be seated w/o any customer in front of us,Waitress was Nice and Food was Delicious. Will definitely visit again.U MUST try the fried Walleye.
Great food it has it all. A notch above.
Love the foods but services are okay if not so busy. But also depends on who you got for your waitress tooo. Foods are great.
Good food, good service, just perfect. I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I have dined at Peking Garden for nearly 25 years and they definitely the most authentic and best Chinese restaurant in Twin Cities and that is fron a guy who also operated a popular Sri Lanka Curry House restaurant for nearly 25 years in Uptown Minneapolis.
Great food and great service. Love the live seafood choices.
First time eating here and it was awesome! Food was fresh from the kitchen. We had Seafood tofu soup, Golden fried garlic, Fried walleye with ginger sauce, seafood war ba and seafood vegetable fried rice. They’re all real good and mouth watering. Portions are good for the price. The place is nice and spacious with very Chinese vibe.
So many options and everything we got was good! We will have to come back to try more items.
Seafood Tofu Soup: Tasty, felt wholesome, excellent starter for our meal.
Scallop and Clam in Black Bean Sauce: I liked the scallops. The clams tasted a bit fishy, but still good.
Squid and Chinese Broccoli: The Chinese broccoli was a great balance for the other dishes.
Double Cooked Pork: Good!
Subgum Tofu Hot Pot: We expected it would have just tofu and other veggies, but it actually had lots of good (non-veggie) things (e.g., pork, mushroom, intestines, etc.).
Having lived in China for almost 20 years, the dishes at Peking Garden cannot be claimed as the most authentic Chinese cuisine I’ve tried in the Twin Cities but it’s far from the worst. Prices maybe higher than usual but you do get large potions. Staff was friendly and overall atmosphere was pleasant.
Went on a Friday afternoon and it was not busy. Food came out fast. Portions are big. My favorite dishes from here that i find myself ordering again and again are the Walnut Shrimp and House Fried Rice.
Weekends are busy but other than that this is the best Chinese food in the area.
That steamed fish ginger and scallions.
What?
I got the Walleye Steamed fish with scallions and ginger. This was the highlight of the meals for me! I came here twice and got this fish twice. It was a decent size that can be big enough for 4-5 people. The scallions and ginger were tasty and the fish as well. For this restaurant, you can choose between fried or steam and then the various flavors. There are about 3 types of fishes. I also got the hollow vegetables, this was more on the salty side.. but i still enjoyed it. I also got a lo mien, it was ok.
environment
This is off university, there are quite a bit of parking in the back and the inside is very big. There are a lot go booth types of seating and many big tables for large parties.
Niceness of the staff...
Ha... I like chinese restaurants where any of the servers can serve you, it was very quick. I was able to flag someone down and get what I needed.
Dollar
It was decent. The fish is priced at market price and that day it was $42, the other dishes were 15-20
Yes?
I would! As much as I love the steamed fish, I would like to try the fried version
Big party and they were accommodating with us and dietary restrictions. Staff was absolutely lovely and efficient. We ordered the Grand set menu and it was excellent. No one left unsatisfied.
This is a quality establishment. Stopped in as we were walking by at 11pm on a Saturday; it caught our eye because it was bustling even so late at night. We were not disappointed; the food, the atmosphere, and the service were exceptional, exceeding all expectations. In fact, I’d say this is a true gem. The combination of the plentiful menu, reasonable prices, and attention to quality really left an impression. I can’t to be back.
Okay, let’s start with the food. I really can’t complain about anything we got. The sesame chicken wings were delicious; the wings and legs they used were of great quality, tender, meaty, and juicy—not the cheap stuff. They were also prepared very well: fresh, hot, crispy, and saucy. The hot and sour soup was hearty, bold and hit the spot as an appetizer. The teriyaki chicken skewers we’re just the right amount of sweet and a bit charred and crispy the way I like, not rubbery like it is at some other places. The double cooked pork was very flavorful and came in a hearty portion which made great leftovers. The baby bok choy and garlic sauce was also delicious and fresh; I highly recommend it as a pairing to any meat dish you get.
The restaurant environment itself is very spacious, clean, bright, and well-maintained. there is an indoor koi pond right as you walk in and intricate decorations that really add to the experience. We were very glad we stopped in and left feeling very happy.
The staff and overall service were notably friendly, attentive, helpful, and fast. I have no complaints; they do a great job taking care of the guest. I felt welcome and taken care of. This place is very well managed and it shows. I can’t wait to be back to try more of their menu. And it is absolutely amazing that they’re open late; we need more places like this.
Great experience. Awesome employees. Food arrived on a timely manner. Food quality is actually really good! It's one of the better Chinese restaurants in the twin cities. I would highly suggest coming here, especially if you have a big group. The tables are spaced out fairly well. The bathrooms are pretty clean. Parking is tight during busy hours, so expect the parking lot to be pretty packed. Come early to get good parking spots and to miss the huge rush hour (lunch and dinner).
I've eaten here a few times with friends and overall it tastes pretty good.
Peking duck (3 taste) and salt and pepper frog are highly recommended. Bean curd sauce has a very bland taste and is not recommended. Sliced pork with preserved vegetables is not recommended, the meat is a bit dry but the vegetables are ok. Two ways to fry pork intestines are worth trying
Delicious fresh Chinese food that tastes very authentic. Had hot and sour soup & pan fried noodles with black bean sauce and chicken. I am now addicted to those noodles and will be back very soon! Friendly staff and such a beautiful restaurant inside. Great experience!
Spacious, good food. If you go here, quit ordering the sesame chicken or the general Tsp's chicken...basically, the dishes you can get at the buffets or any Chinese restaurants.
Get the dishes that this restaurant serves well: deep fried Sole fish with ginger scallion, hollow vegetables with shrimp sauce, peking duck w buns wrap.
Get your taste buds out of their comfort zones, try something new.
We had a large party and was accommodated with combining two tables with turn tables in the center, which helped pass dishes around quickly. Service was good, for a large party the food did come out fast. Will visit again.
Took my parents here for dinner ( my father's birthday). Party of 8, (6 adults, 2 kids) Pretty awesome taste, so much choices. Over whelming menu, price, some even comes with different plate sizes. I order almost 20 dishes for the whole table. They couldn't even switch me to a different table, they were stacking our food on top of another which is so bad we couldn't get to our other food. They also bought out our appetizers last. By this saying they should offer better comfort while eating and more understanding their customers who is spending a few extra meaning for a better experience all the time. I was not totally happy but still left them with gratitude. My table was a mess my food was unorganized but I understand the hustle. Please just remember to smile but yet offer what you can give your costumer each and everything the best experience.
After these photos, the rest of foods I couldn't even get a picture of because like I said, a mess and we had to eat while food was hot so here's a few.
The first thing I dug n2 was the shrimp toast! Yumm! Their fried rice is tasty, the beef noodles were ok, could use more taste to em 4my liking. The curry was excellent, so were the green beans. The wings were good but I will try the salt n pepper ones next time. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is beautiful!
Super friendly staff, and excellent service. This family restaurant has been in business for over 30 years! The roasted pork and oyster hot pot is fantastic. My mom and aunt love the walnut shrimp. It's delicious but a little too creamy for me.
The place is look very beautiful. The food were good. Some taste better than others. Portions are big and perfect to share with your family. Spent over $200. The only part I didnt like was they automatic charged 18% tip. I personally that tipping is something I should be the one that decides the amount because I tip accordingly to the services/ experienced. MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR RECIPIENT OR ELSE YOU MIGHT DOUBLE TIP WITHOUT KNOWING! Other than that, i would say overall it was a good experience.
The food is soooooo good 🤤 This is always a go to spot for me and my family for a special occasion 😊 My favorite dish has to be the salt and pepper fried oysters 🦪
My first time at Peking Garden. We had a wonderful first experience. Nice and clean restaurant. Beautiful place for a formal or casual dine in. We had a large party of 8. Didn't have to wait to be seated. Service was good, no empty glasses, or a shortage of napkins. The food was great! Roast duck highly recommended! I would definitely come back.
