Hard Times Cafe - Minneapolis - Photo album

As a first-time customer who ordered takeout, I tried the vegan helter skelter, biscuits & gravy, kimchi tofu sandwich, brownie, cinnamon roll, and scone. My favorite was the biscuits and gravy. I had high expectations for the helter skelter, but it arrived cold, and the portion size seemed smaller
I am not even a vegetarian but their gyro (with seitan) was delicious. The vibe is authentic, expressive, no nonsense which I loved. I also love that they feature arts created by local children. This is a place I would take my old friend from out of town to get a taste of Minneapolis.
Staff was very friendly. Food was amazing. Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. I ordered the biscuit breakfast and added mushroom gravy. It came out around $13. Which was a great deal. Tons of food and it was all amazing. Only draw back for me was the music was very loud. But they got a vibe go
Awesome vegan options. Vegetarian options gluten free you name it. Fantastic coffee. Nice staff. Place is a vibe. Is also cash only. Important detail.
A nice hole in the wall location with reasonable prices and locally made kombucha! With a decent amount of vegetarian options.
a great spot for late night vegan bites. I've always found their food to be a bit salty overall. the BBQ tofu bun was yummy, would love if the tofu was marinated in the sauce. ive had the vegan Bahn mi, Reuben, and the tofu bun and I would eat it all again! the chips and salsa was too salty for me.
Food is 10/10- so good. Love the fact that they have so many vegan options - as someone that can't have egg, I usually have trouble finding options on breakfast menus- but they make all their main breakfast foods both normally & vegan. I had the vegan rancheros, and they were delicious! If you've ne
Super good food and so so may vegan/veg options. I got the Seitan Philly with vegan cheese. It was really good. Perfect portion and very reasonable prices. My friend got the falafel wrap which was also good. Lots of drink options, as well as a nice bakery case up front. Chill grunge vibe inside. Def
Classic diner food and vibes but vegetarian and vegan-ified. Got the vegan helter skelter with rye toast and tried the biscuits and gravy. I am obsessed with the gravy on the biscuits! Helter skelter was simple but had fresh veggies. This place is cash only so make sure you bring cash. You write yo
New hours 10am to midnight every day!! Lobby reopened, the board games are gone, but the lobby looks great. Keep it up guys! šŸ˜‰šŸ«” Best plant based dining around the twin cities, prices are reasonable compared to pretty much anywhere else you might go, if you haven't been, it's worth the trip. I reccom
Amazing, freshly cooked food. Wonderful, friendly staff. The cashier is so nice! The tasty vegan options are the reason enough to stop by this place. Coming from Duluth MN, vegan restaurants aren't really an option here. Great variety of items on the menu. YuM!
great hangout for those who fly their freak flag proudly. food is always delicious here - highly recommend the falafel sandwich, veggie burger, any breakfast food on the menu and the vegan cinnamon sugar donuts. baristas are always nice and food comes out quickly and made to order
The food was very good. Me and the people I went with liked how you write down your order. It’s definitely a unique place in that aspect but I think it makes things easier for the staff and customer… I got the big pancake, it was good it’s just I should’ve asked for my syrup with it— considering how
As others have mentioned, it is important to remember that it's cash only. The falafel pita sandwich tasted great and was prepared with care. The music is quite loud, which fits with the vibe they have going on. I will definitely be back to try some of the other delicious-sounding menu items at Hard
I believe in cycles. There’s an old saying that’s says that hard times bring good times and after being here the name makes so much sense. (I have no idea why they named it hard times) maybe, the name comes from the feelings when leaving. Either way, the only hard time I had was choosing something o
A true blue, non ā€œfashionably vegetarianā€ vegetarian place where locals love to come eat. I was introduced to it by my friend who lives in the Twin Cities. Wide menu with vegetarian and vegan options that come in big portions. So there’ll be plenty of stuff to takeaway after your meal. I got the Phi
I went in pretty raw. Just having a hard time kinda day. They were really patient with me. Helped me order everything even. The food is the absolute best cure for a hard time. Vegan comfort food that hits just right every time.
