Review Darbar India Grill - Minneapolis

It was a bit crowded on the eve of thanksgiving night as no other nearby restaurants were open that day. We loved the chicken curry, garlic nun and gulab jamun. There’s a 20% service charge added to the bill which we didn’t find anywhere in the menu (might have missed it). Other than that, good place to try some spicy meals.

I had this DoorDashed to me. Food alone was 5 stars very very good! My issues were they provided no silverware or plate/bowl or napkins. But the food was fantastic Garlic Naan was very good perfectly cooked. Makehani (Gf) I got the chicken hot and it was great perfect amount of spice for what I was looking for tonight. Just a touch of a lip tingle. Would order again just was disappointed with lack of things to eat it with. Again the food is top notch definitely give them a try!

Dar Bar is an excellent Indian food experience. The atmosphere, the service, and especially the food were all so so good. Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I will definitely be back!!

I’m visiting from CA and have had a lot of Indian food, this place blew me away! The service was amazing and the food was worth 10 stars! It was super close to the Moxy hotel where I’m staying. So super convenient, amazing food, and amazing service! 10/10 will come here again!

Dar Bar is one of my favorite spots in the cities. If you’re looking for flavorful, hot, with spices- like food you should then pay a visit here. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is set just right with the candle lit dinner, LED mood light, and orchestra covers of pop songs. I bring all my friends here and they all love it too.

It was beautiful, the food was great and the waitresses were so sweet!!

The wait staff is friendly polite and attentive. The food is unmatched in flavor. I have other Indian restaurants closer to home but I purposely drive 20min out of the way to eat here. The atmosphere is not stuffy and the dinner music is so enjoyable! Must come here to see if you agree with me!!!

This place is very nice inside. Big selection of drinks at the bar as well. Our meals were very good (platter and the Rogan Josh with beef). Great garlic naan and great service!

We came here on Thanksgiving for lunch. Being everywhere was closed, we almost did not have a choice. I have to say, this is somewhere I will DEFINITELY return to. The environment, service, and food is amazing. If you like the uptown area of Minneapolis come check this out!

Really lovely place for dinner, all of the food I’ve eaten there (dine in and take away) has been fresh, hot, and super flavorful. They also have some tasty non alcoholic bevs, and lots of good vegetarian options :)

This is hands down the best indian place I have ever had. I've had a lot of Indian food over the years. I always get sick in someway or I feel really GREASY after. For the first time, I felt CLEAN after eating this food. My stomach didn't get upset and the food wasn't heavy. Perfect blend of spices. I will frequently order from here.

Such good food and service. Lovely people. Extremely polite, and checked on me often. Was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Don’t listen to some of the other reviews. Some people are too hard to please. I got the chicken makhani.

I ate here for the first time yesterday evening. The waitstaff was very friendly and quick with removing dirty dishes and providing everything requested. I had beef Biryani and garlic naan and it was the best I've ever eaten. I would definitely recommend eating here and can't wait to go here again.

Absolutely delicious! We had the appetizer platter, chicken shahi korma and chicken makhani(butter chicken). Our new favorite Indian restaurant that is worth the 30 minute drive.

We arrived to an empty restaurant. Tables started filling up after. 3 tables were served and left before us. We were never given an excuse as to why they were taking so long and at the end of the meal, they gave us a $2 discount of a $60 tap. It was insulting given that we waited for almost 50 minutes.

Delicious Chicken Makhani, wonderful and friendly staff, great drink selection! I just moved to the MSP area and I’m not sure I will even want to go anywhere else for Indian food! Thanks guys!

Great food and service. We went out of our way to eat at Darbar. The food is excellent as well as the service.

Food is phenomenal. Paneer (Indian cheese) is a must try! The only reason this isn't 5 star is that my drink was messed up...twice :( but it does not deter me from going back. The food more than made up for it

The vegetable malai kofta is off the chain!!! Pair it with peshwari naan and its the bomb phenomenon!!
Gloria Gallovich
Food was delicious and delivered swiftly!!! The Mai Tais were great as well. We're very happy to find a good Indian restaurant with service to match. We'll be back or order from Bite Squad.

Rogan Josh and plain nan is almost always my go to meal at DB. The staff is friendly and helpful. We have taken friends there and they all have liked it Go try enjoy.

Awesome food, friendly service! My husband and I went for our anniversary, loved the restaurant feel and decor. Our food was delicious with the right amount of spice. Would highly recommend for great, authentic Indian food.

My boyfriend and I went to Darbar for the first time yesterday and it was great! We got the lamb kabobs as an appetizer and they were great!! We love the mint green sauce and the Chicken Josh and Chicken Curry are grear! The service was great although there was a slight lag between appetizer and entreea but it was hardly an issue! We will absolutely be coming back!

My favorite place to get Indian food in the Twin Cities!

Great food, with definitive spices;...a welcoming variety of dishes.

I think they have really flavorful food and great service. The buffet was large and the dining area pretty clean. Not so sure if I would return because nothing particularly blew my mind.

Can't Go Wrong Here. Excellent, traditional Indian fare. A bit on the pricier side as far as Indian food goes in this town, but the atmosphere is really nice.
Carmelita Middleton
We stopped here for late afternoon lunch. Food was great, service was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and modern. We definitely will be back!

It's been about two years since I had really good lamb shahi korma, and I tracked down the restaurants that offered it in Minneapolis and got third-party delivery service from Darbar India Grill just because I was craving it so badly. WELL WORTH IT. It was easily the best lamb shahi korma I have ever had. The vegetable samosas were also exemplary-- perfectly fried and crunchy on the outside. Their garlic naan was tasty but not something so over-powering that it would kill your date. I am so impressed with Darbar. Definitely going to become a go-to order.

Easily the BEST North Indian food in town. I know authentic North Indian food, and this is the best game in town. They also have an innovative take on ingredients, and frankly the best presentation and environment of any Indian restaurant in the Twin Cities. Service is also how it should be, friendly, prompt, and courteous, though not particularly informed.

This is Indian food made the right way, with good ingredients, and a balance of spices, with the complexity and flavor of the food intact.

On one of my many trips here, the only downside was that we ordered Flying Horse lager, the first couple bottles of which were flat, but they replaced them easily.

The food was amazing, service is solid, and the look of the place is great. If you haven't been there already, you must go, and try my favorite dish, the Tandoori Shrimp!
Foodie456
Best authentic Indian restaurant. They make each dish/sauces from scratch individually for each order allowing you to specify how spicy you like you meal. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala medium spice with garlic naan. Oh and their Mojitos are unreal! My husband loves their chicken curry. You can't go wrong with any of their meals though. Great service, huge portions, very inexpensive. Must go!

So Delicious. My husband and I went around 2 on a friday afternoon so we were the only ones in the restaurant. The service was good and the food was amazing.

My husband got a lamb dish and I got the chicken saag. When ordering off the lunch menu prices range from 7-12 dollars so it is very affordable for the quality of food.

Both dishes were delicious and just a touch spicy. When asked if we would prefer mild, medium or hot we both said medium. We both agreed we could of handled hot.

I will go again next time I am in uptown!

Fabulous food, friendly service, great atmosphere, & hands-down the BEST Mojito in town!

Takout. Not Impressed.. We ordered takeout and service was not friendly. We tried two dishes here: beef curry and the lamb vindaloo. The beef was very tough, sauce was ok, but overall not a good dish. The lamb vindaloo was better, but still not very impressed. We ordered both at a medium spice, which was definitely on the mild side. We were a bit disappointed and will most likely not go back. There are far better places to go for a great Indian meal in the twin cities.

5 stars. Loving this restaurant, finally great Indian food and service have landed in Minneapolis. Eat Indian food throughout the world, especially London and New York and this place is very very good. My wife and I stop in weekly after we get a serious "Jones" for their spicy chicken soup and Flying Horse beer.

Good Indian. My girlfriend and I have been to Darbar a couple of times and had good meals both times. We love the samosas with mint and tamarind sauce. We have both really enjoyed the Chicken Kashmiri!!! I tried the biryani on my fist visit, which was ok I've had better it seemed a little bland. The Naan has been great both times we visited. All in all this is a decent place to eat.

Well worth the stop.... I got Lamb Curry and Naan (tried both the Lamb and Garlic) To-Go. The bartender explained to me that their "hot" was "Minnesota hot" - so I went for it. I love spicy food, and it was delicious - and I know I will order it again.

What I am most in love with about the place is that I can order with confidence - I am allergic to coconut milk, which is in SO many curries. Evidently, they cook in Northern India style, which does not use coconut. It's like a world of awesomeness has just opened up to me.

The bartender said they have a wait for dinner on the weekends, so make a reservation. If there's no street parking, there's a lot in the back that's $1.50 per 1/2 hour.

What a find!. We've been back several times and never had anything was less than awesome. Service has always been attentive and friendly. Meat is always so tender, sauces perfect. The samosas are large and their dipping sauces very tasty. Love the Rogan Josh, Chicken Biryani... everything we've tried. Except the gulab jamen -- not enough cardamom. Atmosphere is beautiful.

Food was fine, but server was surly, slow and inattentive. It was not busy at all, so can't blame it on the crowd. It was my birthday and was really looking forward to the dinner. Turned out to be a real downer.

Poopy. I will never return to this restaraunt! First of all my fork had black gunk in between the tines. Second the waiter had horrible breath and body odor which made my meal uneatable. Third I overheard the owner, when he showed up in the middle of lunch, scolding an employee in a rude way right in the middle of the room.

GREAT PLACE!. Great food, atmosphere, and price!

Absolutely perfect!. I am generally not a fan of Indian food but I LOVED this! They have excellent non-curry options, especially Chicken Tikka Masala. The "uptown" atmosphere far exceeded my expectations as well.

Not a stereotype anymore. Darbar has a more refined updated decor, not your classic expected Indian place. It feels spacious, clean and very uptown, even the (Indian) waiters have a more outgoing attitude. The service was good, prices good and there are plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. Everyone out of a party of 10 liked their food! All in all a great place to eat. I can see we will be frequent customers

At Last Great Indian in Uptown. Great room, service and food. Everything tasted just a little special -- loved the sizzlers and all lamb dishes were super.

Priced well -- got to try it

Truly fantastic!. I love Indian food. When I first moved to Minneapolis (specifically Uptown), I was shocked at the lack of quality Indian restaurants in town. So, I was skeptical when I heard an Indian place had moved into the old "Indio" spot. (Har har, I thought) I delayed my first visit to Darbar, citing their lack of a buffet as a sign of menu weakness.

I was SO so SO wrong. Darbar India Grill was amazing, start to finish! Wonderful service in a comfortable yet stylish atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices for the Uptown area. Pakoras and naan were amazing, chai was delicious, and the entrees were super flavorful.

Seriously, this was best Indian food I've had in the Twin Cities. Hands down. Don't be afraid of the newness or the lack of buffet! It's great!

AMAZING!. My boyfriend and I are pretty critical about ethnic food (considering both of our parents are amazing cooks)...and I must say, Darbar was truly spectacular. We shared the lamb samosas that came with a mint and tamarind sauce, which was delish! He has the chicken biryani, and I had the seekh kebab...both were just wonderful. The biryani was flavorful and perfectly spiced, and the seekh kebab was juicy and tender, and was accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and vegetable curry. We are FOR SURE going back!
