Review Maya Cuisine - Minneapolis

Denise
Bummed I did not get any pictures for you. The food was quite tasty and lots of it. It’s not the best I have had but was delicious. You order your food and then grab a table if dining in. They have a condiment bar for hot sauces, sour cream, salsas, onions, and cilantro to add to your food. Atmosphere I thought was fun. There is a bar way in the back that serves really good margaritas. Bartender was Awesome!!! The only thing I was disappointed on was the parking. You have to find a spot somewhere around the block. That can be a walk. I don’t mind walking but for some that might not be worth it. There is front street parking if available but a very busy street.

We are new to Minneapolis and we were having a driving adventure when we came across this place. It was between this and the sushi place across the street. Our cravings were sushi until we saw this place, suddenly Mexican food sounded so amazing and omg, did not DISAPPOINT. The freshness of this food was excellent, the side options were endless, staff were amazing and quick, prices are affordable AF, did I mention the freshness!?!? Go have your own experience!!! You won't be disappointed! I had the three tacos, with beans and rice (comes with the meal) and ah, so much fooood!

I have ordered from here a few times to work and it has been amazing. The food has been quick, fresh, and delicious. Available through Doordash for sure, which makes it really convenient. Very affordable for how much you get.

Good food, service and enviroment. The only comment is that they have different menús, depending if you order at front of the counter to go or even to eat on the dinner witout table service and the back dinner room where you get full table service. We stop at front and look the options and decide our order but then we decided to go to the back dinning área and the options were not available. We have to choose other options. Kind of strange system.

I looked at a trusted food site for brunch recommendations in the Cities and this was on their list. We have a local Mexican buffet that we really enjoy so we decided to give this a try. I was pretty happy we did. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The mexican food is awesome and leans closer to authentic than our local buffet. I wish they had horchata on the buffet, but they do not. They do offer orange drink, water, coffe decaf/regular, and a bin of soda cans. The breakfast options weren't our favorite, but is that really why someone would go to this brunch? The soup, taco/nacho bar is amazing. Do not miss out on the churros. They were a delicious end to the meal and experience. Highly recommend for great mexican food!

Friendly staff. Generous portions of good food. Nice salsa bar with creative options I haven’t seen elsewhere. I got the Maya Plate ($11) for lunch. I configured it with a carnitas taco, a chicken taco, and a pork tamale. It came with Mexican rice and a choice of refried or black beans (I went with refried today). Order and pay at the counter, stop by the salsa bar before grabbing a table in their welcoming space. Lots of table options without being crowded. Plasticware and napkins available at the salsa bar. Everything was good. If you’re hungry, this is a great option in the neighborhood as portions are generous. Free parking on the street. It proved to be a popular lunch venue. I think I’ll try the taco salad next time.

We went when it wasn't that crowded (around 3) and the enchiladas, pozole and happy hour nachos cost $ 36 (more than enough for 2+ people). We enjoyed the vibe and food.

My friend took me here and it was amazing. We went for the Sunday buffet (10:00-2:00). Everything was really good and they have a nice selection of food. I couldn't stop eating the tamales and the flan! Staff was friendly and were very good about keeping up with refilling the buffet. Definitely recommend going!!

Call it 4.6 overall, based on one visit. Maya has two areas, the front along Central is the street-food area, and the back area is for sit-down dining and the bar (photos), all the same kitchen - and patio is in the far back. The bar would be a good place to watch The World Cup, I imagine; if one were to watch The World Cup. The tomales were among the best I have had in Minnesota. Patio dining looks nice but it was in the 40's when we visited. All food items were good, definitely not spicy or over-spiced (if anything more the opposite) as this feels classic traditional Mexican. They do a nice job with service and creating as good an atmosphere too. No worries about being too hot/spicy. Definitely recommend.

Sort of like a Chipotle but more authentic and super tasty. I get a burrito 🌯 when I go there. Its a little over 10.00 and maybe 13.00 if U have guacamole. I drive from Brooklyn Center to go to Maya. It's that good! Support N.E. business.

Salsa had great fresh taste. Queso with chorizo was smooth and yummy. Chips were thin warm and crispy. I had the chicken enchiladas verdes with rice and black beans. Perfect amount of food. Great taste. Have been to allot of Mexican restaurants and this is in my top 5.

Sunday brunch is amazing! I went there with a small group--we arrived early. The staff were very friendly and let us sit down while they set up the buffet brunch. There were 3 tables of yummy food! Scrambled eggs and french toast, along with tamales and homemade tortilla chips. Chicken legs and pork ribs! Coffee and mango juice, too. We also ordered house special margaritas. So tasty. Pay as you come in and go to the bar for a drink. The place is so big! There's even a big patio!

We've eaten here numerous times. The food has always been good and the service as well. I like the option that you can order at the counter in the front of the restaurant, or go to the back for table service. I believe they have slightly different menus but the same delicious food.

Great food at the buffet. Enough room for a family despite initial appearances. Reasonably priced. It's a little confusing how the whole place operates though being a bar, restaurant, and fast casual all in one, maybe better signage? Also signage on the food in the buffet please, I'd like to know what I'm eating.

The staff was rude to me ... rolled there eyes at me because I asked them to explain a menu item and then threw /splattered the taco meat and toppings in my shell like she was pissed! Didn’t even make it in the taco shell !! Also refused to explain what the different meat was in front of me !!!! This was at 7-730pm ish on 5/2! I want to love this place but the staff acted as if we were an Inconvenience to them! If I could rate this negative numbers I would !!!

I've been going weekly now for over a month plus. A new convert to their delicious flavors and varied menu. Consistently great even when the staff is slammed with customers. The Maya sauce is so good subtle burning, I dream about it & cant wait to get back for more. We've never left hungry or disappointed on any level. The tamales are killer. The salsa bar is constantly stocked with fresh fixings. If there is better quick serve Mexican food in the Twin Cities I've yet to find it after searching 27 years here. It's clean and well kept with tables bussed and easy to find parking too. My buddy who lives in Southern California comes back into town and claims this place serves the best, he can't find better even that close to Mexico. I have to agree Maya is as good as we can find. It's affordable, delicious and freshly made. If another star was available I'd make it sparkle and hope you too find this an amazing spot for delicious Mexican cuisine.!!

I'm a Chicano from East LA, the northern capital of Mexico and the home of killer burritos. This place is the closest I've come to a killer East LA burrito and much better than a couple of my favorite hometown places. I will definitely return even if I have to drive 20 minutes from st. Paul instead of walk 5 minutes when I was back in Aztlan. The lengua was excellent.

The food was terrible. The place smelled like a toilet and there was food on the floor. Overall gross experience. This place won’t last long.

The toddler loves Maya for eat in or take out. The patio in back has been great this summer too. The staff is so friendly and the food is great.

Absolutely fabulous experience. Ate at the Maya Cuisine at Rosedale Mall and had Manuel as our waiter. He was wonderful, friendly and funny. The food was absolutely delicious. Will be back real soon.

Not only the best Mexican food, also the best Sunday brunch. We eat here once or twice a month and love it. The goat with cactus is one of my favorites!

Loved it! The salsa bar is fun and the food was amazing and authentic. The service was exceptional, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a true experience.

I don't believe in trashing a place based off of one, first visit bad experience, so three stars, but it honestly was a one star service. Chips were prepped too early on a humid day, leaving most of them very soggy/stale. We first sat at the bar. Stools are very uncomfortable. Bartender spent a portion of his time chatting us up, which, I get - he's trying to be friendly-but I'm trying to catch up with my friend, not make chit chat with a stranger. We decided to stay for dinner, moved to a table and it took 10 minutes to get menus. another 15 to get drinks.(by this time my friend thought we should leave and go somewhere else). Another 15 to order and at least another 25 minute wait for 6 small, shrimp tacos. More chips? Sure, bring us another basket of the stale ones (no joke). Ordered coffee and the check, another 15 minutes. Coffee never showed up. We left. I still tipped 20%, but based on the setup of restaurant, overall quality of food, and experience with very slow service, I'm not sure I'll go back. Hire. More. Staff.

It's my favorite place in NE, to go to for real Hispanic food. Giant portions. Friendly staff. Just lack of parking. The salsa bar is great. Drink cocktails too.

Awesome food and great service! Roberto was our bartender and he was amazing! Great service and very personable! We will be back!

Good sangria, tamale, and elote. Fun atmosphere and decent bar.

Really people! you owe it to yourself to go to Maya Cuisine! Great food, nice people working there, good bar, REAL football (not that boring NFL crap) on the TV. Oh, and the Sunday Brunch is the bomb!
