Review Nicollet Island Inn Restaurant - Minneapolis

Bekah Grundhoefer
We had our wedding dinner here in a private dining room with about 20 people. The food was delicious, the portion sizes were very good, and the price is very reasonable for private dining spaces I saw. Definitely would recommend the Nicollet Island Inn for your private dinner! Jennifer the events director was amazing to work with and our server Ann was so helpful throughout the whole night. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy, beautiful and romantic and I would love to come back for a date night. The staff really made the experience so shout out to them.

One of the best meals I’ve had in the city! Great atmosphere, attentive service, will absolutely be back.

Fabulous anniversary dinner. Food was wonderful. Service superb. We enjoyed looking out the window at the Mississippi River. We shared the delicious deviled eggs. My husband had the Walleye and I had the seafood linguine in clam sauce. We recommend both. For dessert we shared the chocolate mouse. They made it special with a candle and a treat. A great place to spend our anniversary. Thank you!

Delicious food and drinks in a beautiful old inn. It sits very close to the Mississippi River. Very elegant. Perfect for a special occasion. Very nice menu and wonderful wine list

This is a great place for a nicer brunch. I've been here a few times got various meals and have always enjoyed the food. I would recommend this for any social occasions, but it is a great place to go on a whim too!

Truly a gem of Minneapolis!! The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is quaint, yet engaging. And our server Dan was one of the best I've ever had. Wonderful experience!

Totally rated this on the food. Service was less then desirable. Waiter failed to ask 2 people at our table what they would like to drink. One person at our table never received their toast. Very friendly waiter but didn't seem to have his mind on his job. As usual the food was very good. One person had the porridge which was excellent. Another had French toast which was also very good. I had the American breakfast which was very good with ample amount of food. This was out 3rd time at this restaurant.

We just had our daughter's wedding here and we couldn't rave enough about the absolutely wonderful experience we had here. From Ryan and Lindsay the event coordinators, to Andreas and Peyton the hotel managers and the ENTIRE STAFF, the service was SPECTACULAR!! They made us feel so special and welcomed us like it was their home. Everyone of our 100 guests has commented to us that this was one of the best weddings they have ever attended. The food was delicious, the venue was beautiful, and the evening was magical. We highly recommend this place not only for an event, but even a night away or even just dinner at the restaurant. 5 stars is not enough!!

We went there for our monthly get together (used to be our hat club, now it’s “we don’t wear hats” club, and we had a great time there. The pretty receptionist was so nice and very knowledgeable about the history of the place. Our server, Daniel, was very accommodating, knowledgeable of the menu, polite and hilarious!!! He can easily think of a funny thing from what we tell him. Food was really good, I love my crab cake sandwich and the sweet potato fries. Everybody had no complains about the food and service!!! Kudos to Daniel, the receptionist and the Chef!!!

Wedding Venue Review: If you're looking for a romantic, historical venue that is guaranteed gorgeous and comes with phenomenal service.. The Nicollet Island Inn is your place. The Inn is a family run venue, and it shows. There is nothing corporate or cookie cutter about it. The venue is absolutely breathtaking from the intricate chandeliers to the boutique hotel rooms, each of which are adorn with unique, antique furniture . On top of the Inn's beauty, it has a wonderful staff to top it all off. Here are some examples of how the staff made our day perfect: Lindsay & Ryan (Event Managers): We had multiple meetings with Lindsay and Ryan to discuss all of the details of our day. They are clearly professionals and knew all the right things to ask while also being extremely accommodating in every way possible. What you see is what you get with them. They don't try to sell you on hidden costs; they just make sure you have all the Inn has to offer at your fingertips. Bill (Restaurant Manager): Have you seen Downtown Abbey? Think Carson..but better! So kind and sincere throughout our entire stay. He was always checking in and making sure we were happy and had everything we needed. And today when I went to pick up our wedding cake (4 days after the wedding) he was there an greeted me with a big smile. You're not just "another bride" at the Nicollet Island Inn. Waitstaff- The server assigned to my husband and I during the reception was named Carrie. During the cocktail hour I was busy talking to guests, and when I finally sat down at my table there was a plate of appetizers waiting for me because she wanted to make sure I got enough to eat. Throughout the night she checked in with us regularly, asked if we needed anything, got us snacks and cocktails. Top notch service! Jack was one of the bartenders and I can't tell you the amount of guests who commented on Jack's service.. and everyone knew him! He was "Jack" not "the bartended".. Clearly very friendly service! In closing, my favorite thing about the Inn is that it's a historic monument and will be a place my husband and I can visit for many anniversaries to come.

We celebrated our 34th Wedding Anniversary there yesterday. Dinner was excellent ( it is always excellent) and Sean our server was wonderful, assisting us in our wine selection, and making our dinner very special. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The Nicollet Island Inn never disappoints!

We had the best experience. The staff was so personable from beginning to end of our stay. The Cabaret was sold out but the Innkeepers/owners gave up their seats for us! We celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary with unexpected niceties! Thank you!

The food, atomesphere and staff were superb. We went with the 5 course tasting menu and would highly recommend.

Everytime we have been here for dining or staying overnight the staff has spoiled us rotten. Truly great service. This charming place is a cozy spot with great views in the middle of a great city.

Beautiful, historic. The dining room needs some decor changes. Free coffee was nice but I drink tea. Newspaper in the AM wiuld have been nice. Concierge service would have been helpful.

We were there for an afternoon cocktail and had a fabulous time. Delicious cocktails, and our bartender, Jane, was delightful. She was funny, charming, and absolutley part of what made our cocktail hour there so enjoyable. And the deserts were amazing!

My fiancée and I selected Minneapolis as a destination for an end-of-the-year frequent flyer mile gathering trip and we chose the Nicollet Island Inn as our place to stay. Who would want to be in the Twin Cities by choice in late December? We would and highly recommend it! The NII is a warm, cozy, historic place with a wonderful restaurant and friendly bar. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The Guthrie Theater is nearby and we watched an excellent production of "A Christmas Carol". And we made a couple of Uber shopping runs to the Mall of America. All in all, it was a fantastic 4 days and 3 nights with the highlight being our stay at the NII.

This was my first time here and the service was phenomenal! Our waiter was super attentive, knowledgeable, and made some great recommendations. Food was delicious, worth every penny.

I enjoyed my stay for a business trip. It was quiet and homey and the staff were very welcoming. I ate at the restaurant for dinner and the crab cake and strawberry salad were both amazing. I enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio while watching the horse and carriage await someone to take around the trail. The next morning I enjoyed a nice walk through all the trails nearby. After checking out I enjoyed a delicious lunch in the restaurant again! A great unexpected getaway for a business trip. My only complaint is that my room smelled musky.
