Review French Meadow Cafe & Bluestem Bar - Minneapolis

1 word - AMAZING. Great food selection (offers dietary restriction options - vegetarian/vegan/gluten free), huge drink selection, and amazing baked goodies. A great place to bring a date or brunch with your friends, and even family! Parking is very limited and competitive, so come early!

Went here for brunch and it was good! Service got the rating it did, because it wasn’t clear when we got in to to the restaurant whether to seat ourselves or to wait. Stood in a line for some time, before someone came and sat us and we didn’t need to be in that line. There were some other couples confused as well. During the meal the service was okay.

Finding an organic food restaurant is always a plus. Adding that the food was great makes it even better. I'm definitely coming back. And I wish they made it a chain, and I can find it everywhere one day. Tip: Don't leave without trying their hashbrowns or pozole. The only thing I didn't like was their pancake

Beautiful, cute place! The service was fast and everyone was kind. My waitress was accommodating for the entrees. The only downside is it would be nice for the restrooms to be kept up on regularly.

Flawless. Everything about our experience at French Meadow/Bluestem was perfect. The atmosphere was inviting ; relaxing jazz music, appealing lighting, and even a birch forest in the dining room. We started our meal with the mushroom “calamari”, which was very tasty. I had the spa salad (fantastic!) and black bean chili. My dining partners each had a salmon dish, both of which were tremendous. We finished our meal with a caramel brownie. Thank you for a truly lovely evening!

The building itself offers a variety of spaces that allow you to choose your own adventure, so long as there's room to pick. The cafe wins out, in my opinion. The coffee and pastries steal the show from the dine in menu, to which my main issue is that the menu itself feels a bit sparse and overcharged at the same time. I understand the concept, and it indeed offers endless options for people with dietary restrictions. It's a nice space place overall.

First time here and it was absolutely amazing! I was on keto but whenever I come across a place that has clean ingredients,(aka organic, raw, gluten free etc) I have to break my keto and try it out! I Love the fact that it’s “Farm-To-Table”, the atmosphere gave me the old day vibes of preparing your own foods and not relying on the food chains for everything! The cashier was extremely nice and very helpful. They only had 1 waiter to tend to walk ins because they were booked and had no available reservations. So we had to order at the cashier, pay, then wait for the food. But believe it or not it was actually an interesting process. The blueberry French toast and signature pancake were amazing, they included extra maple syrup and butter free of charge! They have a green filtered complimentary water which was sweet. They also have a kids menu We ended up grabbing some gluten free cupcakes and cookie dough, their coconut Macarons are amazing! I can’t wait to go back for lunch/dinner to try their grass fed meats! UPDATE Had to come back for dinner and it was spectacular!!! The incredible mac n cheese is incrEDIBLE! The grass fed burger(despite me always ordering well done) was medium but was so tender, the home pickles were amazing, and the secret sauce is def kept a secret for a reason! They have home made morrocan ketchup which had a slight spice to it i was impressed. Not sure how they cook the fries but they were just right! Grilled cheese was 8/10. Organic Ceasars salad was good Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich was good. Homemade lemonade is great. Bathroom is extremely spacious!

Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. The outdoor patio is wonderful, especially the back section away from the street. The salmon Benedict is a full salmon fillet topped with spinach and eggs. The fish portion in the tacos is generous. Lovely seasonings and dressings. Had reservations for the weekend and the wait time from when we ordered and received items was long, even drinks took at least 15 minutes to come. They forgot part of my order, but brought it out immediately once I pointed it out.

Overall, this place was good! The food was tasty and the service was pretty fast for how busy they were on a weekend morning. I thoroughly enjoyed the Eggs Benedict I ordered, and the rest of the party enjoyed their food as well! However, it seemed quite loud for a morning, the table was a bit dirty (we kept finding old pieces of salad stuck to the table), and the server forgot a few things that were specifically requested (extra cheese in the breakfast quesadilla and an extra side of hollandaise for the eggs - although I did eventually receive it after requesting again). Regardless, we liked the food and would come back for it.

The restaurant is a nice and cozy place to have brunch with family and friends. Egg and bacon croissant is delicious. Salmon egg’s Benedict is okay, not too much flavor in the salmon or hollandaise sauce. We also got chocolate croissant and blackberry peach danish to-go and they were tasty.

i love french meadow and blue stem! been going for years. vegan options are plentiful. but i just had the vegan chicken sandwich today and it was not doing it for me. weird flavor/texture. almost waxy mouth feel. francis in NE is the best if you're looking for veg american fare.

Amazing, Angela took care of us and even went back and got all the details ingredient list that we needed for the gluten-free allergy and the other allergies that we had. Amazing food great atmosphere, love the fact that I had shared bathrooms that were gorgeous! Seriously the best food I've ever had in my entire life I'm really sad that I don't have one that I live by.

When you walk into French Meadow, you're greeted by the absolute friendliest hosts! With an option to do a meal with table service, or to have a seat and dine without service. I chose to order my food at the counter and have a quiet meal on my own; the cashier was lovely and patient with me as I perused the menu she handed me *because I was struggling to read the big menu on the boards. I ordered the miso salmon on homemade mashed potatoes with greens, a rhubarb crisp, and the iron mercy tea. The Salmon was hands down arguably the best Salmon I've had anywhere. The exterior was perfectly light, crisp and crunchy, while the inside was tender, moist, and captured the most beautiful natural savory and balanced flavor of what Salmon is supposed to taste like. The miso dressing on the side, paired with the mashed potatoes and greens gave this meal the kind of rounded levels of flavor that really satisfy the palette. The rhubarb crisp fell a bit flat for me unfortunately. It was a precooked dessert, but served cold and lacking the "crispy" part of it being, well. A crisp. The absolute minimum touch if sweetness, and lack of texture or flavor overall was disappointing after the wonderful Salmon dish. Doors were open to the outdoor patio area, so I was bothered by a few flies during my meal which was also unfortunate. But otherwise the atmosphere here is lovely, and the service absolutely top notch. Will definitely drop in again, a beautiful place to take friends or family while exploring the Uptown area.

I've always walked by this place and never been in which is crazy because it's clearly adorable. We finally came to our senses and tried it and with the guidance of Angela our waitress, the experience was everything. She was knowledgeable and charismatic and her recommendations were intuitive and spot on. Incredible server, wonderful food and I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay away.

Had an excellent experience at French Meadow Cafe. It was my friends birthday and I wanted to gather a few of our friends for a little brunch celebration. French Meadow was the perfect ambience and setting for this gathering. Has a slight elevated feel compared to some other breakfasts places and just good vibez. The staff was kind and food was really good. Our table really enjoyed the Hand-Cut fries!! They also have a large selection of baked goods, unfortunately it seemed every item i wanted was out, but they make them daily so that’s good. Overall my experience was great here and would definitely recommend French Meadow Cafe if your looking for a classy brunch spot to eat!!

I was introduced to this place about a month ago and I'm obsessed. Great atmosphere, great food and drinks! Definitely recommend.

The hostess seemingly dislikes her job a great deal (you don't want to be here....we totally got it). Our server Jared saved the day and is the sweetest! And the food and wine was 10/10. Great birthday dinner!

If I were rating the food and drinks and the bartender, I would give a top rating. However, I have officially concluded that the service there just SUCKS. We have been there 3-5 times and really love the creative menu and the delicious food. But every time we have been there, we are seated right away but then wait forever to be approached by a server. This happens every time. No water, no drinks, no "I'll be right with you." It was 13 minutes last evening. We sat there contemplating walking out. Then there were lots of mistakes in our order. We will probably not be back for awhile.

Excellent food, great atmosphere, and even better, they have Gluten Free options that are actually options! No burger with no bun sort of thing. Their gluten free bread is very delicious. Also brunch is superb!

Great brunch. With lots of good vegan and gluten free options.

We sat at the bar, the bartender was very friendly and helpful. The menu had a unique variety that makes me very interested to go back and try different dishes! The quesadilla I ordered was fantastic.

I love this place. The chicken and waffle is amazing, and as a bonus, it's gluten free.

Amazing beer selection!!!! Tap and bottles! So many gluten free options and ciders. Well done!

Was in today for lunch and discovered the portion sizes have gotten smaller while the prices stayed the same. Not impressed.

Food was excellent! Crab 🦀 Benedict was very good. Service was so so.

Classy, comfortable and upbeat looking. The food is wonderful. I appreciate that local, seasonal ingredients are used. On a recent visit the music level was too loud for dining pleasure and conversation with my friend. Quieter classical music would add to the ambience of this great restaurant.

Sat for lunch at the bar! Great food and great atmosphere!

Any more local brewery events coming in the future? My friends and I loved the summit release and the lift bridge parties!

WARNING WARNING!!!! Do NOT park in the parking lot here. My vehicle window was smashed and all my items stolen. When I spoke with management they told me ‘this happens all the time here’. They said they have kinda been waiting to maybe get some security cameras that work. They current one doesn’t operate. When police arrived they also said break ins at Bluestem are frequent. DO NOT PARK your car in their parking lot unless you want a damaged vehicle and stolen items. The food and wait staff are awesome but to do nothing about known common repeated vehicle theft is terrible.

What a great place. Humanely raised meat, too.
