Went around noon on Sunday - 2 people, only a 20 min wait. The vibes were great and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. I’m curious to try more of the menu. Will definitely be coming back for more!

It might be no exaggeration to say that Victor's 1959 Cafe is my favorite breakfast / brunch spot in Minnesota. There truly is something for everyone, ranging from the meat lovers to the vegetarians (fewer options for vegans). Their food is delicious. They are affordable. They have decorations and vibe that screams down with the people. They have many options on the menu that make one eager to return to try new items. Simply the perfect brunch spot. To start, rice and black beans is simply a classic combination that one should always have on their repertoire. It is not conventionally regarded as fancy food but it will always do you right, tasting good, providing health benefits, and serving other types of food (like meat) justice as complements. Then the plantains, you need to have them if you are in a Cuban (or even Latin American in general) restaurant. Along with yuca bites, plantains are must-haves. Now the meat: I have had ropa vieja and picadillo before and I will strongly recommend ropa vieja because the shredded texture together with the "falling apart" quality of the flank steak is just too pleasant to ignore. Picadillo is good as well. It's just the flank steak vs. ground beef argument here. Sandwich Cubano is their staple. The combination of roasted ham and pulled pork, combined with cheese, mustard and pickles, can provide people with a juxtaposition of flavors that gives savory a new dimension of saltiness (pickles). The pickle flavor is very eminent, which can be a hit or miss depending on the consumers, but I say if you are in a Cuban restaurant, you should adjust your taste buds to experience the value of the flavor combination with Sandwich Cubano. If you are just looking for breakfast, they always have solid options that combine beans / eggs / plantain / more, depending on your combination preferences. The main difference between their breakfast dishes and entrees is that most breakfast dishes have eggs, basically. There are so many items I have yet to try there that I really want to, such as their ceviché, their paella, their flan, and even their champagne mojito. I will for sure return because of all this! One major factor for all to consider is that they are extremely popular, which means lining up and waiting will be inevitable, especially during brunch / lunch time on weekends. Their space is relatively small and people just line up outside to wait. I can attest to that the wait is most definitely worth it. Please give this spot a shot!

We went for brunch on a Sunday, as we were looking for something different than the traditional Eggs Benedict sort of thing. Everything was good. We had about a 15 minute wait for a table, and ended up being seated on the edge of the patio. I got the hot chocolate, which was good, but very thick and rich. I also got some sort of entree with eggs and black beans. It came with tortillas, which were very good, but unfortunately the eggs and beans had almost no flavor. They relied heavily on the tiny cup of salsa that came with it. They could definitely use more seasoning, and maybe something like chopped onions on top... Something! I also ordered a banana pancake, which was delicious! Definitely the star on the table for me. My boyfriend got the Ropa Vieja Breakfast, which he seemed to like. We both agreed that more tortillas would have been welcome, as they added to the taste and texture of both of our dishes. Overall it was good, but could use a little more seasoning.

This is my family’s favorite spot in Minneapolis! Every time we’re in the area we make it a point to stop at least once for breakfast, and we order extra for the trip home. There is usually a wait, but we’ve never had to wait longer than 10-15 mins (besides trying to get in right when they open). The wait staff are very friendly. The food comes out quick, and we’ve always been extremely satisfied with everything. Would recommend the Bistec Criollo with a side of Cuban toast and guava jam, 10/10!

Customer service was wonderful, the food was filling to the belly and the soul. The atmosphere felt like eating from ur grandparents kitchen. I can still taste the Cuban bread and guava jam! Yum! The coffee gave me the pick me up I needed that day. The waitress was nice and very accommodating to my family.

Classic. Great little hole in the wall Minneapolis mainstay. Wonderful fast service; tasty simple food. It's a bit pricey for rice, beans, & eggs but whatever - I love it.

I drove all the way from Indiana to try this place. Definitely always trying to find good spots to eat. Let's start off with that the staff was great, super quick, and kind. Now the food, that was cooked to straight perfection!! Like it was definitely cooked with love and mad flavor!!! I got there early morning around 9am had some coffee with a Cuban hash and they had the windows open getting a nice light breeze!! This place was a whole vibe. Atmosohere food this place is 10/10 for sure. Definitely would drive but up north again. Food was just flavor town!!

The food at Victors was so good. The atmosphere is quirky and welcoming! I especially loved the corn pancake. Looking forward to coming back and trying more things on the menu. I got the multigrain toast with the basque scrambler and next time I would upgrade to the Cuban toast as I heard it was really good.

Came here for a birthday dinner with my girls and it was good! We sat outside and we had a great time! Service was ok and food was not bad! Was expecting more bold flavors. Better than nothing in Minneapolis

I will go out of my way to visit this place. ***UPDATE*** Jan 28 2022 Dining room open - have your vaccination card and ID ready. Food is still amazing … service is fast and friendly. Warning you may want to take a nap after. All kidding aside make sure you are ok to wait. This place is small but will get people in and out. No rush just great service. I came for the Cuban sandwich but keep coming back for more. The authenticity flows down to the drinks. What makes this place even cooler is the experience they created over the years. Worth the wait … bon appetite.

Victor’s is always a hit. I had the wild rice porridge for the first time today and it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, highly recommend! Also, make sure to upgrade to the Cuban toast, it’s well worth it.

Victor's is a South Minneapolis neighborhood institution operating for over 20 years. The authentic Cuban food served here is among the best the Twin Cities has to offer and is an excellent brunch spot. There is a nice (but rather small) patio which I would recommend if weather and availability permits. The inside is small/slightly cramped but that shouldn't be a deterrent unless you're claustrophobic or wheelchair bound. Bear in mind they are only open from 9am to 2:30pm, Wednesday through Sunday. You'll want to arrive before 10am if you want to be seated quickly on weekends as after 10am, there is usually a line/wait time up to 45 mins.

Great staff and a NICE change of pace when looking for authentic CUBAN food to warm YOU up on a cold Minne-SNOW'ta day. The ambience is laid back and the graffiti decor, is sure to inspire the artist in you to leave your mark during you're dining experience; for it to be forever immortalized! I'll definitely be back soon, to try some other things on the menu. 🍛👀🤤

Superb Cuban sandwiches, they use top quality bread, the pork is tender and full of flavor. Black beans and plantains are the perfect accompaniment. Excellent drinks and service.
