Mineola is home to many who trace their roots to Portugal. Lisbon Cafe transports you to vacation mode immediately. A very pleasant maitre'd greets you with the cocktail menu. They bring a yummy bread basket to you while perusing their extensive menu and daily specials. We enjoyed a sublime order of steamed class. Fresh, savory broth of garlic, wine, and herbs bathe baby clams urging you to dip your bread to further satiate your palette. For dinner, we ordered the grilled rack of lamb cooked to perfection nestled atop a bed of creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Additionally, one ordered a seafood medley with salmon. This, too, brought rave reviews. And despite our full belly, we managed to indulge in a decadent slice of the smoothest rich chocolate cake and creamy Creme Brule. And let us not forget the excellent live entertainment on Friday evenings. It added a festive atmosphere.
I went here with family after discovering this hidden gem, and it was fantastic. The service? Incredible. The atmosphere? Engaging. It feels as if you walked into a little safe zone with a tiny Portuguese flag waving up top. Definitely one of the Portuguese restaurants in NY of all time. The dish I tried wasn't one of their best, but it still put a smile on my face when I walked out the door. Truly an incredible experience for all Portuguese cuisine fans.
We found a hidden gem in Mineola! I dig the restaurant’s style. They have “outdoor” seatings with glass ceilings so you won’t get wet when it rains, and some shadows to make sure the sun won’t be too harsh on the eyes. The salad was good, and the paella was fantastic - portion was good for two people. Service was perfect. ❤️
Best Portuguese restaurant in NY. Located in the heart of Mineola. Phenomenal experience! Delicious top notch food, waiters are very attentive, and super nice atmosphere. I Have been here multiple times, and every time is an amazing experience all around. I always take my out of town guests here, as the food is always superb. Definitely a lifetime customer!
This is a restaurant my friend frequents. Yesterday he invited me to visit. It was cold out so there was no outdoor dining. There was a big party when we went inside so we were directed to the bar area. We had a very quiet spot. The waiter was very attentive but not in any way rushing us. I order unsweetened ice tea which for me is a test as to what will come. The tea was really tasty and fresh. They bring out fresh bread with amazing olives. We ordered baked clams and mussels. The clams were good and mussels were as well. They serve delicious bread so soaking up the juices was really enjoyable. They served a modest salad with home made dressing. Really good! Then I had rack of lamb with potatoes, my friends lobster and stuffed fish. They were beautifully presented.. My lamb was cooked to perfection. It was a lot of food. Dessert was really good. The menu had a lot of good choices. Hard to only pick one. I had the Flan and my Friend the apple dish. The Flan was really tasty and the apple was really good served with ice cream and whipped cream. To die for literally. When we got there it was boarder line lunch menu and dinner. They allowed us to stay with the lunch menu which saved a lot of money. We had a really good time. Want to come back when the outdoor patio is open.
I've grown up around a lot of Portuguese food. I'm no expert, but I do have a fond appreciation for the cuisine. My pallet consists of home made Portuguese food and very rarely goes out and seeks restaurants to eat at.
I found this place by accident while looking for places to go and try. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants an introduction to Portuguese food. It's got a great homey atmosphere, brick walls and wood beams. you'll forget you're in NY once you step into the restaurant.
The food, especially the entrees are on the pricey side. But it's well worth it. The octopus we had was extremely tender. The Cod was flavorful and smooth. The potato and kale soup, an absolute classic and will warm you up.
We went on a day where a few families were celebrating. Service was rather slow because of this. But I wish they had some waiters focus solely on walk-ins while the others focus on the parties.
Friendly ambient and excellent services with decent food :) it was overall great experience
Friendly service and great outdoor dining spot to enjoy good food.
Food was delicious. Service was great and friendly. Atmosphere was a little loud. Large parties dining while I was there. It was a bit hard to talk or catch up with my cousin from out of state.
No complaints. The food was delicious. Had the bacalhau and some shrimps for starter and was a treat. Impressive!! Also want to mention a red wine i tried for the first time. Also great - Borba from alentejo region. Don’t miss out on this one.
