Asian Papayoyo located down the street from Marquette is a hole in the wall establishment serving up delicious Malaysian inspired food. We tried their roti chanai ($5.25) which was so butter and flaky, and is a must. Then, the seafood laksa ($12.95) was perfect for a cold snowing night. Malaysian spices in a curry of coconut broth and seafood pieces with rice noodles. Overall, homemade food vibes with happy staffers make this place a go to for Malay food.

Wow. What a gem! Milwaukee is lucky to have a terrific authentic Malaysian restaurant like this. Wonderful family owned restaurant. Extremely friendly and accommodating. Laksa, nasi lemak were great! Even ordered extra to go because they are THAT good... Will be back when I'm in town.

My partner and I were craving some roti chanai bread with curry. We Googled & dined in at this cute little family-owned restaurant near Marquette campus. While many of the “popular” takeout menu items are the typical Chinese-American dishes (catered to the Marquette community), “Asian Papayoyo” offers authentic Malaysian comfort food that is worth exploring. Spicy curry, coconut rice, & fresh meat 🤤 The owner/chef was very kind and talked with us when he brought the food over. We will definitely be returning when it’s warmer to order some Hainanese chicken & rice :)

Had lunch today, excellent flavors and spice level. Incredible value lunch menu. It won’t win for style or ambiance but I will definitely be back for the freshly cooked to order dishes.

Who would have guessed that you could find great nasi lemak in Milwaukee? It currently isn't on the menu, you have to ask, but it's going on there shortly. Sambal featured loads of actual shrimp and just the right amount of spice and sweetness. The rice had my preferred amount of coconut (just a little) and the chicken was crispy and tasty. The only traditional thing missing was egg, but I'll forgive them because the rest was just so good! I must go back and try their laksa, if it's as good as the nasi lemak, this may well be the best Malaysian restaurant in the midwest.

We Googled to find somewhere to eat in the area and decided to get Chinese. I wasn't sure if it was a takeout only place, but they do have a small dining room. You can sit at a table or in a booth. The food was good, and the staff was friendly.

Came across this place when I searched for new Asian restaurants and very glad I found Asian Papayoyo. We called in for a To-go order and the owner really helped me understand some options from their menu. I also requested for spicy chicken and they incorporated that in the curry chicken. I ordered the lamb shank which was delicious and was a regular lamb gravy similar to an Indian or Mediterranean lamb gravy.. I was expecting this to have a Asian flavor to it but it didn't, which is ok as long as it tasted yum. We got the lamb shank, the curry chicken and a house fried rice. The house fried rice was delicious and they have a small and large size in it. Large can serve 3-4 people who eat medium portions, but if you eat a lot then probably 1-2 people. They have a ton of interesting dishes and I recommend you to try this place for sure. I am definitely coming back to try some of their other dishes.

Perfect rendang!! You must try it! The friendliest and most accommodating people, do not skip out on this treasure! Whenever I come back to this area I will be sure to come back! My husband had the lamb, friends had chicken with Thai chili. Our picky toddler happily had the beef noodle soup (not spicy) and everything was all so so good! Your cup won't go empty, and neither will your wallet!

This was a fantastic little place. Was going to a show at The Rave and staying in the area. Saw this place had great reviews so decided to check it out. The reviews are correct. It is a wonderful little place. Family run, I think the kid that greeted us must have been the son as he was only 9 or 10 then he went back to playing on his cell while his parents cooked and served food. Very big family owned/operated vibe which was nice. Everything in the menu sounded delicious. We ordered the crab rangoons and the owner told us he could do half crab rangoons and half green bean rangoons so we did that. The green bean rangoons were different but good. They also have buns here and they are amazing. We ordered the chicken buns. Perfect mix of bun and chicken. My main meal I got was the sesame chicken. Nothing special but the chicken was a good amount of crispy without being dry. Flavor was good. Overall, this is a great place if you want to eat Malaysian food or Chinese food. They do great with both.
