Went out with my wife and we found this small gem. Outstanding food and great service at a great price. House margaritas and house tacos were better than top shelf elsewhere. If you’re looking for a great meal that won’t break the bank you have to stop here. Space is small but they do take online orders. Also tried the mango habanero margarita which was smooth, delicious and just the right amount of heat.
Small place with big flavors!!!!!! If you want authentic Mexican food you definitely must try Tavos. Food is phenomenal. Service is good but our server seemed like he was having a bad day. This won't stop me from coming back though. Not much ambiance. I was ok with that because the food was the Star of the show. Prices are on the high side. I will definitely come back to Tavos!!!!
This small little place in Wisconsin is serving unbelievable top quality Mexican food, it is amazing the craft, quality and attention to detail they give on every dish.
Amazing restaurant with upscale Mexican food. The birria was so delicious and I will absolutely be coming back for them! The service was great as well. Also to note this is a very tiny restaurant with only about 5 tables and maybe 2 spots at the bar.
Wow, Tavos was suggested by a coworker for a date night with my bride. So cool. The place was tiny but offered great conversation with the host/bartender/waiter. The margaritas were raved about so my wife got one and loved it. I asked for a NA marg but it wasn’t available. We had a great free pre-appetizer and later ordered an appetizer. The Guac was perfect! Before our meal, our host/bartender/waiter asked “mango or pineapple?” To my surprise he made a mango NA marg on the house stating, “it’s on the house, let me know if you like it- we don’t sell NA margs so I tried to great a similar version”. It was stellar. The food…. So so so good. We left full to the brim and smiling. We WILL be back.
Great place, big parking lot, limited seating. Call ahead for reservation after 6pm. Food was delicious, it is definitely authentic but with a modern upscale twist. Will definitely be coming here again.

We moved here from San Antonio/Austin, Texas, early this year. I am of Mexican descent, and I love and was nourished on truly great Tex Mex cooking. There are lots of Mexican restaurants in the Milwaukee area, but while very good, they are not what I am familiar with. And though Milwaukee has truly excellent food overall (Birch, Bartalotta, and so much more...), sometimes I miss my Tex Mex.
Tavos serves excellent cuisine. As good as any we have had since exploring Milwaukee's great restaurants. Though the food is not exactly Tex Mex, it seems to carry the Tex Mex soul, but elevated to something more complex and refined.
We had a table close to the kitchen door. As trays of plates paraded by we saw beautifully prepared dishes. There is plenty to explore on multiple visits. We had Birria Tacos, Mole Enchiladas, and the standard Guacamole. I also had a tasty Margarita.
We had a wonderful meal. My Tex-Mex soul was replenished. The service was warm, and our server was wonderful.
The room is small. Only a few tables. It deserves to be packed, but we got a table as a walk-in. Because it's so tiny, reservations are probably a good idea.

The waitstaff was amazing! They were helpful and informative. They made some great recommendations and offered some different tastes and options. They also dealt with a very difficult customer with more grace than I was willing to muster.
The restaurant is small…only 3-4 parties could be seated at one time. They do a bustling take-out service.
The food was the best elevated Mexican food that I’ve ever had. Every dish was well-executed and packed with flavor! We ordered a broad assortment so that we could try a little of everything.

Pineapple Pastor: phenomenal!

Food was incredibly delicious!! Service on point. Overall We had a great time! First time here and we’ll definitely be back.
This was an amazing place! We've been wanting to come for years and finally made. Worth the wait. The food was excellent; I had the fish enchiladas and my gf had the steak tacos. Absolutely exceptional. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Thank you!
