This was my first visit to Barnacle Bud's. It's a bit hidden away, which I like. The food was delicious; I ordered the crab cake sandwich with cole slaw and fries. My margarita was from a mix (Cuervo), but also very good, and at the $5 Monday special price, quite reasonable. I chose a picnic table on the front patio, in the shade with a perfect view of the river, a nice breeze, a row of geese and the Amtrak thrown in for extra charm. The waitress was friendly and efficient. I shall return!

Off the beaten path, on the water, so much character and fun! Great food and servers! I love Barnacle Buds in the warm season and the created newly Genes pop up restaurant was fantastic today! Make reservations!
We're cycling from the public market to try out this place. It's hidden inside the dock. Great rustic setup, a super fun vibe. We ordered half a dozen fresh oysters and garlic mussels. Fresh, tasty, and good-sized oyster. Garlic mussels are the best white wine garlic with butter I ever have. It looks like a lot of butter, but not and not overpowered. Fresh mussels, fresh vegetables, and flavorful. There's not much about drinks here that I love, but nothing below average. Great, friendly, and very intuitive services. Food came out pretty fast as well. Definitely go back.
Huge awesome patio on the river. Great staff. Quick service. Huge delicious burger. Tuna and grouper sandwiches looked great. The Holy Smokes burger was super good, great flavor.
Got the grooper po'boy and it was delicious. It was actually a lot of food and I wish I could've finished it all. Either way, it was a great sandwich and the fries were perfect. The location is definitely a little confusing to get to, but man oh man was it a treat. It almost feels like you're not in Milwaukee anymore. There's seating directly next to the river among many other spaces where you can view the river. Great place for drinks!!!

Last night, my date and I had fabulous meal at Gene's Supper Club, aka Barnacle Bud's. What a fun concept. It was cozy with a bit of kitschy holiday flair! The food and cocktails were DELICIOUS! We love the mussels, with a bit of heat, the cheese curds that we're freshly fried in homemade same day batter. My filet with mushroom and garlic herb butter and roasted potatoes and asparagus was cooked perfectly for my tastes, medium rare. I had two cocktails, the cranberry Tom Collins and the Sidecar. The Sidecar was my favorite, but both were tasty! If you can, snag a reservation for this fun pop-up event!
The food was amazing! I had the lobster roll. It was very good. Very fresh. My husband and kids had the coconut shrimp and cod. Both were very good also
Once was Milwaukee's coolest hidden gem. Not so hidden anymore. Just went on beautiful Tuesday night and there was a wait to get seated if you were eating. Have been going for 25 years, people have definitely found it. Funky Key West vibe. Great place to have drinks in the summer. Virtually all outdoor seating. Mostly go to drink but food is decent enough. Good oyster special on Tuesdays. Boaters hangout. Try it, you will be glad you found it.
My husband and I went to Barnacle Bud's and loved everything! Lovely atmosphere, located next to water. We decided to sit outdoors as it was our first time at the restaurant. The waitress was helpful and attentive. The food was delicious! We recommend this restaurant. It's a little hard to find, but it's definitely worth it.
Enjoy river views from a wooden table on what looks like a pier/boardwalk. In the summer the atmosphere is quite pleasant and feels more like you're on a tropical island rather than in Milwaukee! Recommend the Reuben Grouper!
