Ellis Couty Barbecue

My wife and I went to lunch here for the first time recently. We were sat down pretty quickly and asked what we wanted to drink and if we were ready to order. We gave the waitress our drink requests and told her we were not ready. It took about 15 minutes for her to get back to us, as several customers left at the same time. I ordered the ribs, brisket, mac n cheese and tater tots. The meats were dry without the delicious BBQ sauce and the sides were really good. My wife had the chicken and loaded mashed potatoes, which she said were good. The staff was very nice and friendly but they appeared to be understaffed and overwhelmed. I really appreciated seeing all of the hometown signage, especially the Chris Kyle support. We will return here to try some different dishes.

What can I say besides.. HANDS DOWN THE BEST CHICKEN FRIED STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Didn’t even need a knife to cut it, my fork did just fine. Their appetizers were just as amazing. We’re passing through town and will be back!! P.S. it seems as though they are real patriotic.. even BETTER FOR ME!! Enjoy.

Being from Kansas City I love good bbq and this is some of the best of have had from anywhere I have traveled. The brisket was tender and the ribs were big and juicy Fall off the bone! I ordered the 3 meat platter and the portions were definitely Texas sized. This was hands down the best place we ate at during our trip.

The help was real friendly. The problem I had everything was so loud they couldn't understand my order. I ordered some sweet potato fries and they didn't put that in my order. When I ask them about it she said she'd give me some fries which she did but when I got home they were regular potato fries not sweet potato. I appreciate them giving me the fries but I don't eat regular potatoes fries.

For context, I had ordered them thought doordash pick up When I first got home with my order it was a kids meal instead of a adult meal and they just gave me gravy for the side. I called the what I assume the hostess telling her about my order, she took my name and said that I can pick up the meal the next day and to call ahead 15 minutes so they can prepare. So I do that the next day and everything works out with them presumably having my name down. So I arrived I didn't expected to be questioned and berated by the manager. She was rude and unprofessional. They made it seem as if it was my fault for their screw up. Not a very pleasurable experience
