The Shaved Duck Restaurant

First time visiting The Shaved Duck and brunch did not disappoint!! Their Brunch menu is amazing. I was too overwhelmed with the options and ended up just getting a mix of a la carte items. The smoked cheddar grits are phenomenal!!!! Best grits I’ve ever had. I still dream about them. For the cocktails I tried the ‘blackberry beret’ and the ‘wake me up before you go-go’ and both were absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very clean, service was great and I did not feel rushed at all. This might be my new favorite brunch spot in town! I will definitely be back soon.

My boyfriend picked the Shaved Duck for my birthday dinner on Friday, 1/29. I was excited to check it out because I’d never been there before. Right from the beginning the staff was super friendly and hilarious. The front of house staff was warm and friendly and made some funny comments about me arriving before my boyfriend. Once he arrived, they sat us with April and we couldn’t have asked for a better server! She had great energy and we loved talking to her. She was knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. We also think she missed her calling as a standup comedian, she had us in stitches. Greg the bartender was also fabulous - he brought us a birthday shot and showed us his beard mask another customer had made for him! During a time of so much struggle for restaurants and staff in the industry, the experience at the Shaved Duck took us back in time to the days before Covid. They reminded us of just how important this industry is and how often it lifts our spirits! We belong in community with one another and this experience reminded us of how much fun restaurants can be. The Shaved Duck made this all possible and safe for both staff and guests. I’m so thankful that they’ve figured out how to pivot. Thank you to the entire staff at the Shaved Duck for making my birthday a memorable one! We will be back!

This place is amazing. The menu looks simple but the dishes you get are anything but. My wife got the Airline Chicken. I scoffed at it because, it's just a chicken. It shocked me at how good it was. Also, the bartender is always on point and loves making custom drinks. Go with the Dealers Choice and you won't be disappointed. The staff is so friendly and inviting. I love coming here.

Our daughter and her husband took us here on a visit to Richmond. Very nice and clean, following all the Covid precautions to make us feel comfortable eating out in public. I ordered a cocktail where you pick your alcohol and choose 2 words from a list of about a dozen. I had Tequila that was spicy citrus. I have no idea what was in it, but it was delicious!! For a appetizer we had fresh made bread with pickled radishes and something else that I can't quite recall but it was very good. Dinner I had a chicken breast (go to a place called the Shaved Duck and get chicken...ugh) with mashed sweet potatoes and a sauce that was out of this world. Everyone's order looked phenomenal and from the sounds of it, tasted phenomenal! Dessert for me was the carrot cake, which was a huge portion that got shared by everyone. Ended the night with the Mexican Jumping bean cocktail, which looked nothing like I expected but tasted great! The service was great and everyone was very friendly!! Would HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone!!

We had a wonderful birthday dinner with my wife. The pork nachos appetizer was a treat, and we enjoyed the duck breast and beef filet entrees. The huge carrot cake dessert was more than ample for two, with a lighter touch of icing than usual. They have a nice selection of wines and draft beers, but the specialty cocktails are the real feature. The "smoked" Old Fashioned was a superior and memorable libation.

Finally got to mark this one off my "To Try" list, I have to say I'm glad I did. Fantastic food, I went with all the duck dishes! Started with the Roasted Duck Tostada, then the Seared Duck Breast! Finished with the Maple-Pecan Creme Brulee, dessert that was topped with Bacon. That's a win in my book any day!

Visiting the area and I’m so happy we found this place. I wasn’t expecting a lot from a restaurant in the Midlothian area (sorry!) but it was AMAZING. It’s not inexpensive but the food was worth every penny - delicious! We had a large party with small children and everyone left super happy with the staff, the food, and the drinks! I’d highly recommend!
