Golden Buffet

Stopped here after googling Chinese buffets in Midland, this was the only place that was listed. It's a small restaurant with minimal buffet items, outdated, not very visually appealing. Decided to try it, can't judge a book by its cover! Plus it's Midland, so we expected greatness. Half of the food dishes were empty, some had dried out, old looking food. The soup is always a go to for me, but they're soup had a thick film on top and the insides of the pots were dirty, like it's been reheated multiple times. Bathrooms weren't clean, floors were sticky. On the plus side, our host was nice. Overall, about half of the food I actually put on my plate tasted decent. The mushrooms, sweet and sour chicken and crab cheese were good, but options were limited and unfortunately I wasted as much as I ate. Highly disappointed.

So I read the reviews of this place and not being from the area I figured I’d give it a shot. Boy was that a mistake. I went around 2:15pm and sat down. Looking at the buffet from a distance you see the steam rise as if you’re in a sauna. Don’t be fooled; It is anything but remotely warm. Figure giving things a mix with the juices they’ve been sitting in for the last hour or so would help, but it did nothing. Tried peanut butter chicken to be disappointed by the plain flavor and lack of heat. Texture was stiff with the hard glaze on the outside. Mongolian beef was spongy and cold. Taste was decent, but lack of heat and waterlogged spongy texture leaves room for improvement. An occasional stir of buffet items might help and maybe a digital thermometer would improve the scope of the Golden Buffet. It’s an easy pass if you’re smart. If you like to live like Rambo and I mean dangerously, then give it a chance.

Got there just as they opened. Greeted with a friendly hello. Big plus. The buffet wasn't fully set up yet so I passed and ordered to go. I got the lunch special, dumplings and egg rolls. The best dumplings ever! I highly recommend them. For the special, I got Gen.chicken w/pork fried rice. The container was sooo jammed packed it almost spilled out. Very very tasty. Yummy in my tummy goodness.

We had never been here before. We went here because the Chinese place we usually go to only does takeout at this time. We won't be back! They didn't have many food choices. Most of the food was room temperature or cold. They didn't come back to the table to see if we needed anything. The egg rolls had a weird taste. The peanut chicken was actually good but cold . The worst part was that we paid $28.60 for two of us and we only drank water!! Do not waste your time or money here!!

When we got there, there were 4 people there. We got seated and got up to get food. There was maybe 40 different trays of food and 25 of those were empty and the other were so pick over there very little to choose from could not even get a refill of our drinks it was differently not worth the price we pay. Even the sushi looked like it has been sitting all day. Can you say salmonella I would save your money
