Hurts Donut

Wow, this place is crazy! So many unique doughnuts, and not just the flavors but the names too! The Fred Flinstone is great, but the plain glazers are fantastic too. I think they make some of the best doughnuts in Wisconsin at Hurts, and I consider myself a doughnut aficionado so I don’t throw that around lightly!

I hate to write bad reviews, but something really needs to change at this location. Had about 10 TOTAL donuts left in the case around 10am Sunday morning. Felt bad and bought 4 anyways. The employee stacked a cake donut on top of a frosted yeast donut, so when we went to eat it, the frosting was stuck to the donut above it. This place used to be so great, but this was such a bad experience. Had to update this after eating some of the donuts. Tried 3/4 and they all only tasted like oil. Disgusting

Oreo Cheesecake Doughnut: Hurts Donut Co. has multiple locations primarily throughout the Midwest. One such location happens to be near the campus of my alma mater UW-Madison. Before a long day of hiking and exploring my old haunts I figured I would load up on some carbs for breakfast. The Oreo Cheesecake Doughnut is a raised/yeast doughnut with vanilla icing, graham cracker crumbles, and a center jam packed with cream cheese frosting and Oreos. This is one of the best doughnuts I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot of doughnuts). The dough was fresh, soft, buttery, and perfectly chewy. I wasn't sure what to make of the frosting in the center before tasting it because I wasn't sure if it would be Oreo filling flavored, cream cheese, or something else. As I already mentioned it ended up being cream cheese (it may have even been actual cheesecake) and it was a phenomenal touch. Between the beautiful fall colors, pre-hike pain killer, and all the sugar running through my system I had quite a euphoric experience. Doughboy approved. *My only complaint is that a lot of their specialty doughnuts are only available in cake and not yeast/raised, but there is still a fair selection of both styles Doughboy_Food_Reviews 9/5/21 Cookie Monster: The “Cookie Monster” doughnut is a raised/yeast doughnut decorated with beautiful blue icing, Oreo crumbles, and eyes made of sugary candy. No matter how much you dress up a doughnut it needs to start with a solid foundation and this one does. The dough was fresh, soft, buttery, and perfectly chewy. I strongly prefer vanilla to chocolate icing and lucky for me the fancy blue icing is a deceitful vanilla flavor. It’s not a very revolutionary doughnut, but between the fantastic dough and lovely blue icing it earns itself a Doughboy approved rating. I can’t wait for my next visit (their giant cinnamon rolls are on my radar now). My Favorite Doughnuts: 1.
