Starbucks

I have held off on reviewing this place for many years now, because I hate writing bad reviews, and less than a year ago, this review would have been very different. I would walk to a further Starbucks just to avoid the incredibly rude Barista that was at this location. I am pleased to say that I have recently started coming back here and been very pleasantly surprised. They seemed to have replaced the rudest Barista in the world with Kyon (who seems to make everyone smile). I firmly believe that a person's attitude can make or break everyone's day around them. I know that people can be rude and it must be very hard to be a Barista with a bunch of high maintenance people demanding things all the time, which is why I have so much respect for them. They must have the patience of saints, because putting on a nice face after a frustrating interaction is hard, and I'm sure they have multiple unpleasant interactions per day. That being said, Kyon manages to smile warmly and make everyone's day a little nicer. With all the doctors and hospital personal who come through here (often already stressed) and then go on to see patients, I believe having a good interaction can change the course of not only one person's day, but of all those who will have to interact with that person later. I know this was very long winded, but I feel that people like Kyon are special and deserve a lot of credit for all that they put up with. Employees who treat people with warmth and kindness are what make a business flourish and keep people coming back. You can get a cup of coffee almost anywhere, but you can't always leave happier than when you went in.
