I have been going to Captains Tavern market for years and they have top quality fish and shellfish. The local fish and Stone crabs are the freshest! Their staff are amazing! Filleting the fish to your liking and chucking/selecting the oysters.

I recently was making linguine in white clam sauce and stopped in at a cross-town fish market to get some fresh clams. The clam's were in a mesh bag and I could see a several of them were open (i.e., bad/dead clam!). I advised the salesperson that some were open and could not be used as it could pose a health risk, could he go through them and only select the closed ones... he replied "this is the way we sell them"...
No problem, I have other options close to my house. On my way home I stopped into Capt Tavern. Staff was very friendly and although they didn't have any little neck clams, they had the large ones (possibly cherry stone?). I was so happy when I saw the person helping me tapping the clams on the counter. The ones that were dead quickly went into the the garbage bin (2 points every time).

Captain’s Tavern is a wonderful seafood restaurant in Pinecrest. The fish is exceptional - extremely fresh. Captain’s tavern has a separate business - a fresh seafood store- so they clearly do a very high volume of seafood - and this the fish and seafood is extremely fresh. The Decor feels like traditional New England, with many fish tanks throughout the restaurant. I always enjoy eating at Captain’s Tavern - as the entrees are always delicious!!!
Been coming here over 25 years. The seafood is good and fairly priced. Over the years we’ve seen the portions shrink & prices go up which I guess is expected. The waiters are great here & experienced. The one complaint I have is the place is in dire need of remodeling & updating. Carpet & decor is ancient. Menu is extensive and they have almost everything. Good wine selection.
OMG... a one stop shop! Not only did we pick up some amazing Stone Crabs and delicious Black Grouper but the manager, Ray pointed out that they have some amazing wines available to pick up with carry out. I own a wine shop in Delaware and found some terrific finds with great pricing. I'm glad to be here another week and half to go back before we make the drive back up North. PS.. the Stone Crab sauce is better than Joe's!
For fresh fish and for great variety. For the nice people that work there. This is the place to go!!! Fenomenal oysters too!!!

Today is Saturday January 30th. This was my first time at Tavern seafood. I found out about this place from a publix employee. I have to say I was impressed. I went there looking for lump crabmeat. They didn't have the exact brand I wanted but the store employee showed me something very closed to what I was looking for. The employee was very professional and seemed knowledgeable about what I was looking for. I would recommend this place if you're looking for fresh seafood.
They always have freshest seafood in town. I like their smoked salmon, and the fish spread doesn't disappoint either. Try it and you will not be disappointed. Looking forward to their stone-crabs when the season opens.

Solid seafood market that has been there for years and attached to a restaurant. Good people and service even at crazy time of year. Well organized. They even have wine and a few other seafood related products. Only negative is that at sometimes of day like late afternoon, the traffic on the adjacent street can be so bad that getting out of the parking lot can seriously try your patience.
Excellent selection of oysters, fish and other assorted goodies; like their smoked fish and dip. The service is attentive and knowledgeable. Definitely competes for "Best" Seafood Market in Miami-Dade.
The Staff at Captains Tavern Seafood Market are professional, efficient and absolutely wonderful in every way! There is no better place for stone crabs or seafood. Fabulous-always!
Friendly team. Usually pretty long wait but worth it. Some of the prices seem a bit steep, and particularly unpleasant is having to pay more for the "better" cuts. Understand that there may be better parts but think if all parts are equally sellable, would be cool at all for same price!
Always fresh seafood and a great working crew. Today I picked up shrimp, fish dip, stone crab, thai calamari salad and an entire chocolate mousse cake for my staff's Christmas lunch today....they won't let me go anywhere else for this meal!
Very fresh fish. Prices are fair but you can do better at Casablanca. There was an unpleasant odor of old fish but the fish were fresh. Staff was attentive and helpful.
