Captain's Tavern Seafood Market

This is a great local fish market, always fresh and staff is super friendly and helpful. I recently was making linguine in white clam sauce and stopped in at a cross-town fish market to get some fresh clams. The clam's were in a mesh bag and I could see a several of them were open (i.e., bad/dead clam!). I advised the salesperson that some were open and could not be used as it could pose a health risk, could he go through them and only select the closed ones... he replied "this is the way we sell them"... No problem, I have other options close to my house. On my way home I stopped into Capt Tavern. Staff was very friendly and although they didn't have any little neck clams, they had the large ones (possibly cherry stone?). I was so happy when I saw the person helping me tapping the clams on the counter. The ones that were dead quickly went into the the garbage bin (2 points every time). My linguine alle vongole came out perfect!

Captain’s Tavern is a wonderful seafood restaurant in Pinecrest. The fish is exceptional - extremely fresh. Captain’s tavern has a separate business - a fresh seafood store- so they clearly do a very high volume of seafood - and this the fish and seafood is extremely fresh. The Decor feels like traditional New England, with many fish tanks throughout the restaurant. I always enjoy eating at Captain’s Tavern - as the entrees are always delicious!!!

OMG... a one stop shop! Not only did we pick up some amazing Stone Crabs and delicious Black Grouper but the manager, Ray pointed out that they have some amazing wines available to pick up with carry out. I own a wine shop in Delaware and found some terrific finds with great pricing. I'm glad to be here another week and half to go back before we make the drive back up North. PS.. the Stone Crab sauce is better than Joe's!

Today is Saturday January 30th. This was my first time at Tavern seafood. I found out about this place from a publix employee. I have to say I was impressed. I went there looking for lump crabmeat. They didn't have the exact brand I wanted but the store employee showed me something very closed to what I was looking for. The employee was very professional and seemed knowledgeable about what I was looking for. I would recommend this place if you're looking for fresh seafood.
