Review Sparky's Roadside Barbecue - Miami

Walter van Dusen
We found Sparky’s by a google search for near by restaurants. The atmosphere was very cool and staff very friendly. The bbq was different than what I’m used (St Louis style) to but very good. I had the baby back ribs and brisket with fries and baked beans. The brisket was in a sauce and very tender. The ribs had a nice rub and tender. My wife enjoyed her veggie burger and fries. I ended my experience with the key lime pie. If you are in the mood for good bbq, I suggest Sparky’s.

Casual bbq spot with service above and beyond expectations. Awesome beer selection both on draft and bottle. Server knew everybeer, very impressive. deserts: just get the banana pudding and thank me later. Chicken tenders are fantastic. Biggest suprise was the salad was actually really nice. As far as the bbq goes I would opt for one the the sandwiches. The 3 meats is decent but go the sandwich route.

This is one of the few gems of downtown Miami. The reason? Great food and a wide selection of beer. The place gets really crowded specially during lunch hours and Fridays, which can make the wait longer, but I definitely a tasty option for meat lovers. And if you bring a vegan friend they have salads too. Everyone wins here :)

First - great beer selection - beer 12 on tap and a wide variety of bottled. The brisket cheese steak sandwich with peppers was excellent. I am a collared greens fan and they don't disappoint. The pecan pie was excellent. It doesn't hurt that the server was really nice.

Came here with two friends on a week night with a little over an hour before their closing. The staff was immediately helpful and very very friendly which is always a thumbs up in my book. Our server recommended a craft beer for everyone at the table based on their preference and I can't remember which I had but I remember loving it! My party of three decided to order a bunch of menu items to share family style so we could all taste a little bit of everything. We started off with the bacon which was stunningly delicious. The bacon was perfectly glazed and came thick cut which we all enjoyed. Next we had the corn nuggets which I was a fan of but when it came to the corn bread that was a bit of a miss for me since I found it too dry so it became very crumbly. We ordered the three meats platter: guava ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The guava ribs were amazing and I was surprised how much I enjoyed the guava flavor since I'm not big on sweet bbq. The pulled pork was also very good but I didn't like the brisket too much. I thought the brisket was overcooked and too salty for my taste. The sides were delicious though of sweet potato mash and macaroni. So there were some ups and downs with our meal. I would come back if I was Downtown craving some BBQ but found the prices to be a little steep. IG: @KFitzEats

Update review on this reataurant. Due to Covid 19, the restaurant cannot accomodate customers inside, however they now have tables with nice parasols outside for your convenience. Go ahead and support your neighbors and local businesses. We need to keep in mind that all members of staff count on the customers to try and make ends meet. Makig a living for restaurants and hotels employees is so difficult at the time being just like everyone else's. The staff here are curtious and kind, helpful and welcoming. Let us all be kind and let those who can, assist those who cannot. The food is very tasty and affordable. A meal can cost no more than 15 bucks or so. A big meal. I suggest the brisket or the special of the day. The banana pudding is also a delight. Check new pictures to see the outside seating area.

Great tasting BBQ! I had a lunch meeting there and was expecting the typical BBQ joint, but I was very much surprised. The pulled pork was "melt in your mouth" deliciousness. Paired with your craft beer of choice and you just can't go wrong. ❤ 🍖 🐖

Great little place. Was not expecting much when walking over to it in this business district. Pleasantly surprised with some yummy bbq. His dry rub ribs were a bit better than my wet tinier ones, but the brisket was great! We got th blast corn bread and I dont think they have another corn alternative - might be wrong.

We had been at the Pérez Art Museum Miami and were looking for a place close enough but not your usual tourist stop. The reviews were promising and though none of us is a barbecue fan we decided to give it a try. We are glad we did. The place atmosphere feels authentic, the food was great and the service was friendly. We had the Beef Brisket & Pulled Pork and ribs with the dry rub.

Had a craving for some brisket but decided to have the sausage sandwich instead. WOW. the fries that came with it were devoured in a minute and the sandwich rocked my appetite. Staff are friendly and fun too.

Everything was delicious. We had the catfish fingers the side of bacon the pulled pork and the brisket. the brisket was sliced extremely thin as if it was going on a sandwich rather than in a larger chunk as if to be eaten on its own. Their hoisin BBQ sauce was incredibly delicious. Also they had a really great beer selection.

Just wow. Haven't been to other ribs places in Miami, but I have been to other places in the world and this restaurant is up there. The place is amazing. Really friendly. The menu is varied and delicious. I ordered the guava habanero ribs. Totally recommend those. And get a side of beans! Best side I've had for a long time! 👍🏽Has a nice selection of american beers on tap too. Nothing like ribs and beers! 🍺

Great BBQ and super friendly staff! Got the ribs with sides. There’s a wide selection of different sauces, and plenty of ribs to try each one. Place had a good vibe and was a fun little hangout for lunch. Remember to save room for desert!!!

Sweet, laid back spot to get good BBQ. I got the pulled pork sandwich and my dad got the fried catfish sandwich. The pulled pork was juicy and delicious. We also finished the meal with their homemade brownie with whipped cream--so good. The guys working there were friendly and attentive. Plus, they played consistently good music while we were there.

This experience was amazing. Best food that I've had in Miami thus far, as well as the cheapest. If you are in downtown Miami this is a must. The food was great, the homemade sauces were amazing and the customer service was immaculate. They greeted us as soon as we walked in, ask multiple times if we were doing ok, and if we needed anything. What really got me was I didn't even finish my drink and there was another on my table in no time. I can say if and when I decide to come back to Miami I will definitely be stopping by the place again. Thank you for a great experience.

Small, hole-in-the-wall, type establishment. Good food, fair prices, exceptional service. Girlfriend and I shared a 1/2 dry-rub rack with two meats and sides, was more than enough to share. Only two servers working but both were on top of their game ensuring everyone was cared for, better than can be said about most other places with many servers.

The beef brisket and pulled pork are very juicy and delicious. They go very well with the BBQ sauce. Unfortunately, the collard greens we're too sour and the baked beans were too sweet.

Went for a bite to eat. And the service was fast(Hospitality unmatched) The host was very polite and readily available. The food was tasty and filling. I had the smoked boneless chicken, mashed(sweet)potatoe, the fries which was amazing and a 🍺. My woman had the collard greens with the ribs and beans. Visiting from New York it was a must we go back there before departing South Miami, and we did.

The New York Post says it's one of the top 21 BBQ places in the United States. I don't know about that but it's absolutely the best in the 305!

Love love love. The brisket is the best I've had in Miami. The beer choices are great, too.

Bbq was great. The owner even went above and beyond to bring my keys to the AA arena, when I left them on the table. Great dudes!

Brisket hash, corn nuggets with that great ranch dipping sauce, cornbread, fried pickles and boneless chicken thighs. Everything was amazing!! Best barbecue around! Homey feel in the restaurant with smiling and friendly staff. Well worth the drive from Fort Lauderdale! Can't wait to go back!!

Love these guys! One of the few places that has been around for a while and is consistently good! Love my Tyler's Pressed Sandwich with Kevin's Magma Sauce!

Sparkys has great food, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere right in the middle of downtown Miami

This place is insanely awesome! We moved here to Miami from Texas and were really missing good BBQ until we found Sparky's!! Tyler's Pressed Sandwich is a must!!

Real bbq in downtown Miami! Great smoked wings in different flavors, five or six different sauces you can experiment with. They are a flavor cornocupia! Either Tylers pressed or brisket cheesesteak sandwich are the best to try your first time along with the wings of course. Lots of beers and ales to try as well. Happy hours 4 to 7 make sparkys a great way to end the day too! Won't go wrong and getting there is super easy - just get off on south side of first street station off of metromover.
