While this isn't a "cool kids"/ typically newage diner hangout spot, it CERTAINLY is one of my favorites! Their biscuits and gravy are to die for, and today we got their prime rib and eggs as well as their meatloaf!
Constance, along with another amazing server, made sure our meal was amazing and delicious! She and I even exchanged tea tips, and she got me to taste something I'd normally never get!
In totality, a delicious, filling breakfast for a more than reasonable price with some delightful people to brighten up our (and hopefully soon, your) morning!
Simple uncomplicated diner food, Desserts made in house and are fantastic. A nice change from Denny's or IHOP. My favorite server is Jackie, but everyone there is great.
The place is cozy but not too small. It’s clean and the staff are hospital and professional. The food is just like what grandma used to make and just as tasty. They have a wide variety of menu items and to finish the meal they have a wide assortment of made from scratch pastries, cakes and pies. For the cost it’s large portions and all homemade. I highly recommend this place if you wanna stay in your budget but still get a good meal!!
This place is under new ownership! I have been here a few times and was never thrilled with the food or the service. Today they hit the mark in all catagories. The portions are big, well prepared and presented. Son had the Prime rib and egg special, I had Greek omelette and husband had waffle, egg an bacon, all was fantastic. Definitely will put this in my frequent must go back and do it often. Such an improvement.
New Owner! She was very nice and welcoming, I think she will do great! The food was very delicious as I had hoped. There is seating for people of all abilities. It was out first time. Glad to have a new spot to frequent. It is somewhere you can dine alone just fine or bring your friends. Nice rustic Arizona theme inside. The fries are so tasty. The meatballs were good. Good portions. Good atmosphere, plenty of people but not too packed. Quick service and many smiles. I will get pix of food next time and update. They do To go orders if you call. Kids menus have a lot of options! Appetizers are between $4-$10.99. Most entrees 9.99-10.99 on average. Vast selection. You have to go see!
Four stars instead of five because the ambiance is pretty bad. From the outside it looks like a seedy bar, with the blacked out windows and only a tiny oval "open" sign. On the inside, it looks like they opened in 1974 and haven't updated anything in nearly 50 years.
On the other hand, I don't want them to get new stuff because I'll have to pay for it with a price hike, but then I just wouldn't go back, so if they spruced up the place, I'd lose a nice little place to go in the summer.
I say summer because this place should be called 'The Snowbird Diner'. It's so busy all winter while they're here, but the locals must think it really is a bar and keep driving by because last night, there were only three tables full on the right-hand side of the place.
The restaurant is completely divided down the middle with only the checkstand joining the two sides at the very front. The kitchen is in the middle, making both sides look very small. We've sat on both sides. The left side seems a little bigger and the restrooms are over there, but the right side is cleaner, at least from my experience.
Last night we had the best waiter ever! Chuck had all three tables and was very attentive to everyone. He was on top of all of our needs throughout the meal, refilling beverages, bringing wherever his patrons desired. We left him a 50% tip. He was amazing.
Now to the food. My husband had a five star experience. He got the Friday night fish fry. The cod is succulent and juicy. The breading is perfect and crunchy (At least it was last night--when they're more busy it may be more of a rush job).
Unfortunately, I had more of a two star experience. I ordered a patty melt. The recipe for a proper patty melt is a juicy hamburger patty on toasted rye bread with grilled onions, thousand island dressing, and Swiss cheese. They serve it with cheddar cheese, which is fine with me because I like it better anyway, and the onions were grilled and there were plenty of them. However... The hamburger should never have been served in that condition. It was black. The toasted rye bread was burnt. And there was no sauce at all. Fortunately for me, I know how to make thousand island dressing, so I took some of the tartar sauce from the fish and mixed it with ketchup to exactly the right proportions and it added the expected flavor perfectly. I only ate half of my sandwich though. Even with the sauce I made myself, it was still way overcooked and chokingly dry.
Then okay, I make the best potato salad in the world. Don't roll your eyes--you haven't had it, but everyone who has can testify that they've never had better, so I don't know what possessed me to order the potato salad as my side. It was gloppy and vinegary and generally terrible. The picture is at the end of the meal after I couldn't gag it down at all. It was gross. They have plenty of other sides. Pick anything else!
My husband loved that fish so much that we will definitely be back. He will have the fish and I will not have the patty melt. There are lots of good looking things on their menu. I never found out for sure if they serve breakfast all day, but if they do, I think I'll try that next time.
The food is really fairly priced and very good cafe style food! I love their breakfast burritos, much better than Filbertos or the like. And I also love their patty melt. While the taco salad is popular it's the only thing I've ordered there that I didn't care for. Servers are always nice. We live close so we pick up to go a lot as well and that is always fast and accurate.
Very quaint. Extremely friendly atmosphere. You can tell this place is popular by the locals, because all the waitresses knew their names. The food was really good! All three of my girls cleared their plates, and started trying to eat off mine! We will definitely be coming back.
First visit to this cafe. The food was very good and they served big portions. Servers were not prompt to help us and had to wait to be sealed. Our server was confused as to what I had ordered, but she was friendly, and the food made up for any mistakes. The place needs some sprucing up, it was a bit dark due to all of the back lights not working. It's a neighborhood spot without any frills other than a great breakfast. We had the 2 eggs, bacon & toast. My husband had Pancakes, 2 eggs & 2 sausage patties.
Great steak n eggs with a lot of hashbrowns! Thick and juicy sirloin cooked perfectly to my taste(med rare)
Fast friendly service. GREAT PRICES!
Very clean dining room. Very clean bathroom.
The only complaint i have is its kind of dark in there. Need more lights!
