Back in the day, this location was always busy in part that there wasn't much in the east valley then & the outdoor patio on the water. We recently went for late lunch on a tuesday & it was very quiet. Headed up to the bar for happy hour food, no drinks this time. BTW they have weekend happy hour 11a-5p. The bartender had chips & salsa to us so quickly. The Green Chili Pork was much better than I expected. It was very good. Mom got the same but in a burrito enchilada style with plenty left over for a second meal. My teen son ate his entire carne asada burrito plate and loved it. The HH guacamole was fresh and delish. Only con was that there wasn't a hostess when we walked in, another reason we went upstairs however the bartender's service was very good, she was attentive but not overbearing & the food came very quickly. The atmosphere is beautiful. Would be a great place for a private party buyout (not sure they do that, but would be nice). We spent $80ish w/tip, no alcohol bev's.
I’ve been coming to Macayo’s since I was a kid. I’ve always enjoyed eating here but after my experience last night, I figured I may as well leave a review. It took them no more than 30 seconds to have my friend & I seated. Our waitress had chips and salsa on our table before taking our drink orders. She did well with our questions about the menu. The food was served before I got my second margarita. & I appreciated that she didn’t offer me more than a couple drinks with my meal. My table was clean & of course we tipped. what impressed me was that my friend left his ring at our table. They located it & returned it to us with integrity & honesty. That is a rare & favorable trait in the service industry & i appreciate that a lot. The environment here is calm and nice for an evening out with your spouse & during the day you can catch some nice lake views! enjoy
It was our first time, the food, service and atmosphere was awesome. Waiter was very attentive. Food was served in a timely manner. We will go back.

So far Iv had the Chicken Tortilla Soup, Chicken Nachos, Street Corn, Krispy Tacos (Chicken, Ground Beef, and Birria).
-Chicken Tortilla Soup -Amazing with lots of flavor!
-Chicken Nachos by far my favorite loaded with lots of yummies.
-Crispy Tacos wasn’t into non of them. Just basic not really flavored.
-Street Corn was ok, a bit to sweet for me.
I will go back and try other items. Good atmosphere, great staff!
The restaurant is very spacious and pretty inside. There's outdoor seating with patio misters with a water view. The chips came out warm with very good fresh salsa.
I loved the chimichanga, although I thought it would have been crispier. The grande portion has a really filling amount of food. Service was quick and the prices are reasonable.
Lots of dishes to choose from; Great service; Reasonably priced; The chip's salsa was nice and spicy!
The food is very good. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. They have a cute little patio for eating outside with a nice little lake view. The only minor complaint I have is they seated us at a table that was too small for four people, and in looking around, several of the tables and booths seem a little too small for more than two.
The very BEST frozen margaritas EVER!! I had a black Cherry and my sis had a pineapple!! Yum! We sat on the patio. So pretty and peaceful. Watched the ducks, pigeons, and morning doves as we sipped a margaritas.
I average 2-3 visits each month and I live 40 minutes away. I meet friends and family frequently because it's a great location, delicious food, great service, amazing atmosphere too. I highly recommend.
My waitress was wonderful. She was attentive when necessary, and kind. The frozen margaritas were delicious, and I’m usually picky on the taste of Magarita’s because many places over use the sweet and sour. Definitely will go back when craving another. I bought the Macayo’s Magarita cups because I thought they were cute. Ended up with two males instead of one of each gender because they were out of the females. My steak fajitas were perfect, there was a good amount of the veggies and steak. I also think many places give you more veggies and less meat when fajitas are ordered. My son is usually hard to get him to eat his meals, but he almost finished everything this time. The child’s plate with 1 each: chimichanga, tostada, taco, and 1 side. My mom ordered a tostada and ground beef taco with one side. She felt she would have ordered a shredded beef or steak taco instead. I love that they have an outside patio by the lake, it’s nice to have that option. Will utilize the patio when it gets nicer outside for sure. Overall it was a good experience. Will be going back to this Mesa location again for sure.
