My husband my self and our son were looking for something new, being from Chicago we really miss having a food scene. We came upon J. Hicks just driving around and we were intrigued by the amount of cars parked out front. We were seated right away and promptly brought our drinks. The menu is so completely different than the other restaurants in the area with such amazing offerings such as a pb&j burger, donut burger and sweet chicken rolled in frosted flakes. Really creative and interesting, finally a place that doesn't just serve roast lamb and wedding soup. I had the J. Hicks burger with some of the best bleu cheese ive ever had. My husband had the Italian burger with roasted Italian beef and my son 10 had the Jr. Fish. We also started our meal with house made vinegar and salt pork rinds. The food blew us out of the water, huge portions and phenomenal flavor. Our server was attentive and anticipated our every want. I cannot wait to go back, I think I found my new favorite spot.
Great food, " Romancing the Angel" is fantastic. The staff are always fun, even when they are busy.
The beer selection is top class. I had a Dogfish 120 IPA, that's a great beer. It's always a treat eating here.
Nice little restaurant off the Mercer square. They have a full menu and draw in a crowd on the weekends. I particularly enjoy their nickel chicken salads. Their chicken is tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce instead of a buffalo sauce, which makes for a nice change. Their ingredients are always fresh and quickly prepared and their staff in friendly and engaging. They offer shot sampler trays, as well, which makes for a great deal. The wings aren't bad but there are far better places In mercer if that's what you're looking for.
I live in LA but when I visit family/friends here I always try to stop by.
Fair prices, pretty wide variety of food and excellent draft options if you enjoy craft brews. Even if you don't they have wine/cocktails and non alcoholic options. They even had consistently good (and I'm sure will again once covid is done) live music.
This year they had some political flags that I saw a reviewer complaining about. I've been here with friends with totally opposite political opinions and I can tell you the staff and patrons at J Hicks have never been anything but accommodating and friendly.
You'll see pretty much any of the negative reviews are people hung up on being offended and even admit the experience and offerings at J Hicks are good... Someone will always find a reason to be offended by anything.
People have different political opinions, religious preference, sports teams. It's called life. J Hicks is and will continue to be a great small business.
We had extremely friendly service, a super peanut butter and jelly burger, and excellent wings. Drink and dessert choices were also stellar. So, I highly recommend it.
Knowledgeable staff to make recommendations of offerings and or drink/food pairings. Nice decor, fun activities, live entertainment, rotating draft options are the hallmark of this must stop for lunch or an evening of entertainment.
Love J Hicks. The bartender is so very accommodating. Nice time.
Came here for the 1st time for a comedy show. Very impressed. They had the restaurant closed for the comedy show. Staff was all very friendly, great food, nice comfy atmosphere.
I got exactly what i wanted walking in the door. A great meal, at a great price, with great service. The Flat Iron steak was fantastic. After months of sitting at home, what more could i ask for?! More than happy to support my local businesses. J Hicks On The Square is at the top of the list.
