Reviews of Sun Studio Cafe

The worst service ever, especially for an airport where time is of the essence. Server finally recognized me when I was headed to the bar to get a drink after 30 minutes. When I get to the bar she tells me I have to sit at the bar to get her to serve me a drink. I came back to the table to wait with my friends for another 15 minutes still no drink let alone place my food order. Needless to say not happy!!!! Now that I'm finished with my review I'm leaving the table unserved and they get this review.

Service was ok. I got the hummus plate thinking you can't really screw that up. The carrots were shriveled up and dried out, completely inedible. The hummus was fine. The celery was old. Pita chips we're fine. For $12 I thought it would at least be edible. Unfortunately airports hold you hostage with limited options.

The service here IS very slow when busy. Don't expect to grab a quick bite if your flight is leaving soon. If you are here for a beer or need to leave soon, be sure to ask for your tab when you order your last item. Then have your credit card ready when they return with it. The food is ok, but nothing special.

Ok, I have to post a post review of Sun Studio. Since last time when I swore I would never go back I did the exact opposite and must say it's was much nicer than before. I didn't see the waitress from hell anywhere so maybe just that made it better. Either way I wanted to update my last rating (below this one) to a current and accurate reflection of my experience. I will continue back visiting Sun Studio at Memphis airport as long as the level of professionalism is maintained to what it was last week. Un believable... I come through this terminal every Thursday and stop. Usually ok service but today, 2-15-18, was horrific. I just sat down and hadnt even looked up when an older blonde lady came up tossed a menu on the table and just said what do you want to drink. I said let me look and the attitude grew from there. I'm looking at the menu and got an email I needed to answer. While reading she stopped again acting a little disturbed and asked what would you like to drink. I hadn't had a chance to make my mind up so I said water. She took off and brought the water, sat it on the table and walked off. I told her as she walked off I'll have a Stella, I planned on ordering but was trying speed eat or drink. She brought the beer and I said I'll order some food in a minute, she said we're closing soon, this was just before 5pm, my flight boards at 6:30. I was going to eat and try to enjoy the stay but after that treatment I just drank my beer and sipped my water until time to go. She could have at least said hello before trying to force me to decide what I want when I'm paying for the service and possibly a good tip on the end. Unfortunately none if those things happened and I won't be stopping in Sun Studio again.

Surprised by all the bad reviews. I had a great experience! Granted, it was 6:45 a.m. and empty. I ordered an omelette to-go and it was delicious. I love the decor featuring Memphis musicians and records with some of Sun Studios' top hits. The 60's-styled tables add an awesome accent to the experience. The lighting is also awesome. You feel like you're at a mini concert. They even have a stage where I imagine people can watch local entertainment. I would definitely come back! However, I can't vouch for what it's like, when the restaurant is packed.

Server Regina cannot be trusted with money. She takes it upon herself to keep your change and tosses your receipt so you may not notice. I needed my receipt for business. When asked, she claims to need her manager to reprint the receipt. Reality she had the receipt. She leaves the facility unattended for a long time. Food is marginal. Like another customer posted wish I could give zero stars!

Do not eat here if you are in any kind of a hurry. Extremely slow to acknowledge you exist. Equally as slow in taking your order. Food was fair but waiting 20 minutes from the time you sit down until they acknowledge you especially at an airport is a fail. I gave this place a second try and that is what the above review was for. The first visit was worse.

Table was dirty. Ketchup bottle literally had a dried chunk of pulled pork (I think) on it. Salt and pepper shakers were dirty. And I came it at about 7:30 AM, so it wasn't a full day worth of people getting tables and things dirty, they just weren't cleaned. <br/>I waited several minutes before I was acknowledged by any waitstaff. I wasn't offered a beverage refill until I had already completely finished my meal and asked for my check. <br/>Honestly the food terrible from the 2 times I've been here, but the service is terrible. Don't stop if you're looking for quick service.

The Dirty Mac & Cheese was not as expected based on the menu description. I've had better Kraft M&C. And needless to say, the best part, the BBQ, was scarce. I'm gonna have to pay 20 bucks for this to walk down to Lenny's to get a good meal. I know it's airport food, but wow, this was not good. The know it alls at the bar didn't make the meal any more enjoyable either......only the beer did its job.

I ate here at here while during my lay over and the food was excellent, I ordered the catfish with fries and a few beers. The food was piping hot and our waitress was fantastic. I am not sure about the wait time for the food because the waitress was so engaging that I did not notice. Very nice sweet southern charm and hospitality, I am waiting to go back to Memphis to leave just to eat here again!!

When I had a recent layover at the Memphis Airport, I didn't realize how much Memphisy touristness I'd be able to squeeze out of the situation. I did so by eating a Sun Studio, where there was an Elvis impersonator and the menus were record cases. Sometimes The South gets weird. Like at this place ( Sun Studio ) the bartender was Hispanic, the Elvis impersonator white, every single waitress was Black, and every patron was white.

Disappointing in menu and service. I've been there three times in October and November. The last time I had a burger and a drink. Around the corner is Back Yard Burger. Half the price, larger portions. And you don't have to wonder about where the waitstaff disappeared to. Well, they don't disappear; you do to them.
