Recently dined at this fabulous restaurant. It was the best meal we have had since the last time we dined there. Chef Cullen was creating delicious food, beginning with the appetizers through to the better than ever desserts. The atmosphere was very nice, staff was friendly, and Chef Cullen Kent was spectacular. Always a pleasure and treat to dine there!!!!
We go to Cafe Society often. Went last night for our anniversary..food and service were outstanding. Chef Cullen prepared Souffle for dessert for the occasion. Elegant place. It's like everyone knows you there. Very classy atmosphere..best steak umber had in Memphis. They are dry aged and always cooked to requested temperature.
Lovely ambiance and service. We each had the French onion soup which was so flavorful and light, although it could have been hotter. Husband was quite pleased with the chicken piccata and a perfectly cooked chicken breast. I had bacon wrapped shrimp in a horseradish sauce served with a small Caeser salad and crostini. Thoroughly enjoyable. The creme brulee was not ready so we were served three luscious chocolate truffle balls that perfectly complimented the remaining Barbera wine. Will be back. Ask for Mark. He rocks.
The food is really good! We went here with our in-laws and weren't sure about this place at first, as it's a bit dated. But the food changed our minds - the chef is excellent. What this place needs is a bit of a capital injection to update the decor to make it more modern and appealing. But if food is your priority, then you won't be disappointed.
Excellent food as always. It was New Year's Eve and the restaurant only had three servers, including the bartender who pitched in waiting tables.
Our original server chose to take orders from another table that was seated 20 minutes after she initially brought our water. Since she didn't return to our table, I reached out to the person who we discovered was the bartender. We asked if we could have a new server and he volunteered to help us. Food was served to the table that was seated 20 minutes after us and before we ever even got appetizers or drinks. Ultimately, our food was served in the order that is was intended and was excellent!
A table beside us got their entree after about 30 minutes of being seated but had not been served their apps nor salads!
With NYE being mostly through reservations, I was surprised and disappointed that the bartender replied to my inquiry that there was no manager/owner in the restaurant that night!
Amazing dinner, my friend had a great experience for her Birthday.
Outstanding steaks, delicious appetizers, perfect wine pairings, and attention to detail throughout.
An Evergreen neighborhood staple for decades, Cafe Society is an institution but one humble enough to always deliver pleasant surprises and thoughtful touches.
This was a very nice experience, a hidden gem in the Evergreen area. We ordered the crab cake, and bacon wrapped shrimp as appetizers and seared salmon and chicken as main dishes.
Everything had an amazing taste to it. The crab cake was delicious and tender. The bacon wrapped shrimp tasted fresh but for the price the portion was small. Approximately two shrimp served in a sea of butter sauce. It was amazingly tasty though.
Our main dishes were amazing and colorful my salmon was flaky and full with a crisp skin, served with potato rounds, broccoli, sauteed celery, onions and Peruvian peppers. An amazing dish overall.
The other dish was a chicken dish on a bed of green beans, rice and stuffed with a mushroom dressing. The chicken was amazingly tender and the dressing was astounding.
Overall it was an amazing experience. The atmosphere was nice, a quiet and clean restaurant. Very nice place for a quick romantic evening.
It is always a pleasure to have dinner with the folks at Cafe Society. (I hadn't been in a year and the wait staff remembered my name.) The food was excellent, as always, and the atmosphere warm and friendly. Dressed or casual, you'll always feel at home here and the menu is just wonderful.
Moved up reservations on Sunday from 7 to 5pm and they were very accommodating. Ordered both specials and the steak came out over cooked. Waitress explained it was the last steak and would I like something else. Owner/Chef came out to apologize, but it was not that big of a deal. We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the service and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have 35 years in the industry and still give them 2 thumbs up.
The salmon was cooked perfectly and the chocolate torte was divine with its fresh whipped cream (perfect for sharing as it is extraordinarily rich). We were there for a work function. The separate room they had set up was quite lovely. Delicious salad that went beyond the norm of a side salad.
Best French restaurant in town. Chef Michel & Chef Cullen are excellent at creating some of THE BEST cuisine in Memphis. Friendly and attentive staff, first class service. See Miles next door at the bar for a great cocktail and witty quip. This is our favorite neighborhood bar, with a fantastically first class experience!
