The best chicken and waffles I’ve ever eaten. Never had a bad lemonade either. Love this place, just wish I didn’t have to go downtown to enjoy it.

We had the fish tacos and seafood flat bread, both were good. We asked for chipotle sauce and added it to both tacos and flat bread which stepped the tacos up one notch to really good. The place is fun to go to, quirky decor. Service was surprisingly slow at 11:15 am. Maybe kitchen was still ramping up.

My hubby and I went to this place with some friends 5 yrs ago and I recently went back with my best friend on our girls' trip and the food was consistently amazing. I ventured out and tried something different the 2nd time around but the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and the service was good.

Took four coworkers here because they'd never heard of it -- surprised at how this place stays under the radar. The food is delicious and everything has an unusual twist.
This place is only open for lunch on weekdays and I think brunch is added on weekends --has elusive yet real downtown free parking(!) near the FedEx Forum. Theme is cute--kind of kitschy school cafeteria. Food is not low-cal but WORTH the splurge!! My favorite is the chicken and grids (chicken and waffles) -- the waffles are very light with crisp edges and have some kind of delicious cheese cooked in them. Get the mustard dip to go with. I also ordered two sides as appetizers-- one was blue cheese cornbread that was cooked like a Johnny cake and also got the spinach artichoke dip with freshly made chips ml. Everyone raved over these. All said they were bringing spouses to check this place out.
Order the lemonade of the day. You won't be sorry--instagram perfect!

Great selection of high quality food. Much nicer inside than it appears from the outside. My personal favourite is the Science Crab Cake Project - a delicious flatbread with crab meat. The portions are a normal size rather than supersized. Their fresh lemonade is also fabulous, although there is very little chance of finishing it.

I finally came here for lunch one day and ordered the shrimp po boy I've been hearing about. OMG!!! It was so good and huge... enough for 2 people. The shrimp is fresh & not oily. I also purchased a slice of red velvet cake very good, they have a nice selection of sweets. I will definitely be back.

This food was amazing. I went there with some college classmates and it was a great experience. We all loved our plates. The combinations are amazing and the waitress was extremely polite and friendly. I wish they stayed open a little later so that I could invite others to join along next time.

Delightfully Delicious. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Lunchbox Eats. Chicken and waffles were great with a side of slaw. Peach lemonade was refreshing. Peach cake was amazing. Servers were attentive and professional. Will definitely be back again and recommend it to all my friends.

A Unique Sandwich. The Homeroom Chicken & Grids sandwich consists of breaded chicken breast strips and cheese in between two halves of a cheddar waffle that taste like cornbread. The sandwich's taste is somewhat sweet (possibly due to maple syrup mixed into the waffle; can't say for sure) and doesn't need the cups of syrup and honey mustard that comes with it. I encourage, if not insist, that you give this little sandwich shop a chance, if not for their delicious food than for their lemonade of the day (ours was watermelon). You will form a fan club, I assure you! Please try the Chicken & Grids and the Mac & Cheese! I could eat them everyday… okay, maybe scale that back for my waistline, but honestly, I will be making my way back to this joint before returning to Tampa.

Simply Delicious. A friend and I went to this restaurant on Saturday and it was very busy. We immediately grabbed a table and ordered our drinks. Having never been there, I asked the waitress her suggestions. The sandwich I wanted to try, Broken Rib, was not going to be ready in time, so she recommended I pick the Class Valedictorian, a new(er?) menu item. It was a turkey burger with cheese in the patty, spinach, house sauce, sandwiched between two light and buttery corn bread rounds. Saying it was "delicious" doesn't cut it. I could not stop making faces of disbelief on how amazing this simple burger tasted. <br/><br/>I also ordered the Mac and Cheese and some Shrimp Popsicles. The Mac and Cheese was ridiculous. Cheesy, but not too rich, and a nice portion. The Shrimp Popsicles were a miss with me, though. They are just single shrimp fried on a bamboo skewer. They were fried extremely hard ruining the texture of the shrimp, and were actually difficult to eat. I also won't be ordering them again because the shrimp were $2.50 each, which is a little pricey for single medium fried shrimp.<br/><br/>My friend ordered the same sandwich, but also got some of the Fried Brussel Sprouts. I can't believe these tasted so good! They weren't batter fried, so they're not completely unhealthy. They were perfectly seasoned, a slight crunchy layer on the outside, with a beautiful firm inside.<br/><br/>Lastly, we ordered some strawberry cake - one service is definitely fit for two. It was great! Perfect amount of cake-to-icing ratio.<br/><br/>Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals, the atmosphere resembles that of Hueys/Republic Coffee, and the wait staff is PERFECT. Our waitress should be teaching others on how to perfect the art of customer service.

Lunch. I did not like the Mac & cheese chicken or the chicken & waffle sandwich & the apple cobbler. The waitress was very nice & polite. She encouraged my mother and I that we would like what we ordered. I don't know if this was just a bad 1st time experience or what but I was not pleased at all. My mother and I ended up throwing out the food we bought. I would like to give it another try at the restaurants expense. I don't think I could pay my money again and get disappointed.

THE BEST!. I have not been to a restaurant this wonderful in a long time! EVERYTHING was good when my new husband and I went- the decor was fabulous (old schoolhouse feel, every detail taken care of!), the environment was fun and inviting, and the food was DELICIOUS + contemporary. I had the chicken + grids sandwich with green tomato relish, macaroni cheese, and the plum lemonade. We also got a lovely dessert to go in the cutest dessert box with mini wooden fork! The service was impeccable. Everything was made to order in a timely fashion, the waitress was extremely attentive and polite. My husband had the sandwich with pork and macaroni and cheese on it. The pork was the same quality of all the expensive BBQ places we had been eating at! and the sandwich was perfect for him. No sides were necessary but the sides were just so hard to resist. <br/><br/>It was such a fun and delightful experience for us, we will definitely be back!

Wow! You gotta try this food!. I love to try different places to eat. The Lunchbox Eats was recommended. I was not dissappointed. My food was great from the first taste to the last. I even tried a "blueberry lemonade" thinking it didn't sound very good. Wrong! It also was wonderful. I highly recommend this place not only for the food but also the friendly service and atmosphere.

We really lived this place, but after a while the menu items all seem the same. Id like it if they had lighter less carb heavy options as most items are some form of a sandwhich. It'd also be cool if they included the prices of the daily specials instead of just listing them. All in all this is a cool "once in a while" place. They lost me once the graduation burger started getting smaller, and was served cold in the center the last time I got it.Them stopping free refills on the lemonade didnt help either.

Wonderful food. This place is great! I had the Broken Rib Bones and my usual dining companion had the Chicken and Grids. Both were excellent. Fair warning, the portions are quite large. We couldn't finish even half the french fries, but the macaroni and cheese dish was completely empty. I'm usually a dessert fiend, but, after the size of the entrees, I couldn't do it. They looked awesome, though. Can't wait to try one next time. :)

OMG this place is good. Wow, I can not say enough about how good this place is. I went with a large groups (9) about 30 minutes before they closed and they were so nice about it. It was our first time there and the waitress was so patient with us. She explained how everything worked. First, you are given menus that are on note book paper. After looking over the menu, you are given a test. LOL, they give you those fill-in the bubble test sheets for you to pick what you want. Like sushi but cooler. They have all kinds of cool sandwiches and sides. I got the Homeroom Chicken & Grids ($7.95): Our version of Chicken & Waffles is Deep Fried Chicken sandwiched between Two Golden Brown Cheddar Waffles, topped with Muenster Cheese served with Whole Grain Honey Mustard or Green Tomato Relish; and the Eggplant Fries. The sandwich was OMG good. Slap your momma good. The eggplant fries were the only thing on the menu that everyone at our table universally hated. But hey I think between all of us we ordered half the menu and to only have one thing no one like it a pretty good record. I tried my friends mac-n-cheese, so good! Get it instead of the eggplant fries. We wound up causing them to say open an additional hour but they were very cool about it and said it was no big deal. So give this place a try so fun and so good!

Worst Food Ever. I think that they must be writing their own reviews, because this place was awful. I got mac & cheese- it was runny, cold, and tasteless. Also, got the squash casserole, and it was cold on the inside, and also tasteless.<br/>My daughter got the chicken strips and they were mushy w/ very little flavor. I will NEVER go back. It was one of the worst lunch experiences I have had in Memphis.

Top Of My Short List for Lunch. After two visits to Lunchbox Eats, I have no reservations in declaring it the best sandwich shop in Memphis. The food is creative, southern, and delicious. They pair combinations of ingredients that I never would have thought to pair, but in hindsight seem so perfect and obvious. My only complaint (and this is no fault of their own) is that it's impossible to make the trek downtown from Hacks Cross for a weekday lunch. <br/><br/>My wife has ordered the chicken and waffles (apparently one of their best-sellers), and the pulled pork sandwich. She was impressed with both. For me, however, the clear standout is the buttery grilled cheese with hotlink and fried egg sandwich (I think it's called the Principal's Office Link). This item alone will make me a loyal customer for years to come. They also have some interesting sides, but the size and superiority of the sandwiches really make the sides unnecessary unless you just want to be a glutton. <br/><br/>It's located on an easily-overlooked side street behind the FedEx Forum. The neighborhood is a little on the sketchy side, but on Saturday afternoons I have never had a problem parking close to the restaurant. Hopefully, the out-of-the-way location will prevent this gem from becoming overrun with tourists. The atmosphere is pleasant and loft-inspired; the service is great. On the two Saturday's I have visited, the restaurant has been nearly empty.<br/><br/>A perfect 5 stars -- don't change a thing!

The Homeroom Chicken and Grids is one of the most popular sandwiches (and my personal favorite). I've heard good things about the Leadership Mac and Pork Club as well. Oh, and If the lemonade of the day is caramelized pineapple, you'll be doing yourself a great disservice if you miss it.

Excellent Food and Atmosphere in Downtown Memphis!. I have been to lunchbox eats quite a few times since it opened and I must say that I am never disappointed! My favorite is the smoking birds sandwich but everything I tried of menu has been excellent. The team at Lunchbox puts a fresh spin on alot of traditional dishes and also created some new items along the way. Also, if you have any room left, try the deserts as well.. I am partial to the choclate "birthday cake" but they have various pound cakes, cobblers,key lime pie. Check the "chalkboard menu" for the latest and greatest items. Last but not least, I enjoy the staff at lunchbox. They are friendly and focused on customer service. This cannot be minimized... There are quite alot of good resturants in Memphis with good food but poor customer service. Again, you should come downtown and check it out for yourself!!! You won't be disappointed.

After purchasing the living social coupon, I went in today with two friends and ordered the leadership mac&pork sandwich; my two friends ordered the afterschool scooby snack and extra curricular portobello sandwich. During our meal not only was the food delicious (the pencil thin fried chicken berating on the scooby snack being especially flaky and tasteful) but the service was excellent (our drinks being refilled seconds after they were finished) and equally as kind (smiling faces and kind words were not hard to find in the establishment). All in all, one of the best restaurants I've been to in Memphis and definately one of the most reasonably priced establishments downtown for lunch.

Well, if I wouldn't get fired. But anyway... So, to start off, the place is way cute. It was a beautiful spring day, and they had a gorgeous little patio outside. But the inside was just so darn cute that we decided to sit inside. It's all got a school house sort of theme, but they mixed in enough modern furniture and unique artwork that it doesn't go overboard. The menus are little quizzes, and your food is served on cafeteria trays! Talk about a good idea for a restaurant. After many recommendations and local buzz, I visited the restaurant twice in one week, first dining in and second as take-out, and brought a total of four people with me who all enjoyed their meal. Beyond the cute school house theme, know that the food is not cafeteria food. It definitely emphasizes the idea of the lunchbox, transporting the deliciousness of a homecooked meal held between fresh slices of bread to enjoy away from home. For example, my first meal, the "broken rib bones" sandwich, was essentially a beef stew inside a generously sized grilled cheese sandwich. 5 Star Lunch Spot in Downtown Memphis. The outside of Lunchbox Eats is very warm and welcoming. The inside of the resturant has a "School" theme which is really cute. The host of the resturant greeted me with a smile even though they where very BUSY.<br/><br/>The menu is is posted on a chalkboard which completed the scenary of the school theme. I ordered the Smoking Birds. My food was delievered hot on a school tray & with a smile. I could feel the Southern Hospitality in this resturant. I must say my lunch was refreshing. There was more than enough for 1 serving & everything tasted delicious. I must say for the resturant to have been as busy as it was the staff was very friendly. The astmosphere was full of people laughing, talking, watching the flat screen, listening to the music being played in the background, a small meeting was being held, a couple was on the patio enjoying the sun, and a family of 4 which consisted of 2 kids was playing the LunchBox Eats Trivia game with their parents as they waited for their lunches. Guess, I will be bringing my kids tomorrow for lunch since they are out for Spring Break.<br/><br/>Oh, did I mention that my meal was less than $10 & parking is FREE. You just don't find these things to often in Downtown Memphis. I would definately come back to Lunchbox Eats & I plan to recommend this lunch eatery to my co-workers & friends. Once everyone settled, we tackled the menu. I already had a list of favorites, so I told Warren about them. He decided on the Graduation Burger which is meatloaf tunneled with pepper jack cheese and topped with mashed potatoes, gravy, and crisp onions. It's served on giant (homemade?) bread. Yum. Everything is pretty hearty at the Lunchbox, and apparently it all sounded good to the monkeys. They were naturally drawn to the After School Scooby Snack--chicken strips and fries--because of the name, and they both wanted macaroni & cheese, corn on the cob, and Bird & Noodle soup. I explained that would be WAY too much food and scaled their order back a bit. I grabbed Jiro's order form/quiz sheet and circled Scooby Snack and corn on the cob. I figured the Scooby Snack would be big enough to share, so I circled corn on the cob and Bird & Noodle soup on Satchel's sheet.
