Absolutely unique and authentic bar/ lounge. Staff are great. Juke box has great selections from Etta James to Prince. Love this historic gem.
This is a unique place. Hidden dive bar with a lot of history to it, best burger in town, the guys behind the counter are really cool and they have live music! Come check it out!!!
Love this place. Got a chance to meet the owner and talk with his son as well. The burgers are the best around along with some of the locals that enter. If you are looking for a the best Soul Burger around, come here and stay for the tour.
This place was so cool and I can’t wait to go back. I got there around 10:00 on a Saturday night and it was poppin’. There was a live band playing, good vibes, bar tenders were very friendly. I didn’t get to try the burger but definitely will when I come back. Going upstairs is a MUST! As soon as you walk up, the vibe changes..it feels haunted for sure. All the history of the building is just so neat. Visit Nate’s bar, he’s been there for 30 years..he’s definitely an icon —he will tell you all about it.

Burgers are incredible. They’re kind of small so you might need a couple. Be sure to check out the upstairs if you get a chance. I believe it’s only opened on Friday and Saturday, but it’s definitely worth checking out.
2023 Update: Still great!
1st time going to this place. Went on 7/21/23. We are not from memphis and this was one of the “must go to” places. The upstairs is so cool definitely gave a haunted feel.
A band named Elevation Memphis played and they rocked the house. Omg I was amazed by the harmonies and the arrangements of their music. Their songs catered to everyone and they sang and played so awesome. I don’t even like rock music but they changed my mind lol I’m definitely booking them for my wedding and i can’t stop telling everyone about them. The soul burger was great. Overall it was a great experience. We back Saturday for another night for the burger it was so good. But the night was better Friday. Will be back soon.
This bar is a Memphis must-see! Good music and great atmosphere! Greasy burgers, beer, and live music downstairs. Haunted house, liquor, and a piano upstairs. The bartender Nathaniel "Nate" Barnes has been here forever is awesome!
This place had amazing food and Mates bar upstairs is an unbelievable environment. That being said would if you come in enjoy the entire experiance, just bring cash if you intend to go upstairs.
Dive bar done right. Gritty enough that you don’t trust any food you haven’t kept eyes on. Clean enough that you never have to worry about your cocktails being suspect. Good times and great tunes.
