Excellent breakfast, set in an old town style breakfast diner type establishment. Friendly staff, adequate service, minimal wait time.
Had the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes at the recommendation of my server. Comes with 2 large pan cakes with swirls of icing on each cake. Perhaps the ONLY pancake I've ever eaten without syrup since the swirls of icing were moist. These cakes are served with a small personalized container of Maple Syrup, which I sampled on Cake #2. Both the plate and top of cakes were dusted with a cinnamon sugar mix, which keeps the cakes directly off the plate, making them slightly easier to eat than normal.
If I return, I'll be trying the Chocolate Chip pancakes, as this would have been my alternative choice. 4.8 Stars on this one. Excellent breakfast.
I absolutely love the food and service and will definitely return when I come back to town. I spoke to some customers as I was walking into the restaurant and asked how the food was and they stated the food was excellent and they were right. The people were nice as well and the food was prepared quickly. I had the San Diegan open face omelet, cheesy grits, biscuit and cinnamon roll pancakes. The cheesy grits were a little salty for me but I loved everything else and I stand behind the 5-stars. I recommend Brother Juniper's definitely good prices, great food, quick service and polite staff. I have provided pictures unfortunately I ate the cinnamon roll pancakes so quickly I did not get a picture but trust me they were so good.
This Memphis breakfast institution lives up to the hype. It isn’t glamorous but it is a comfortable place to get the best breakfast anywhere. Everything I’ve had here is excellent from the biscuits to the bacon to the vegan dishes. Make sure you get a potato dish or the home fries. It is crowded in the morning, but 11:00 is a good time to go during the week to get seated right away.
This is one of the best breakfast places out there for sure. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Yes, there is a wait line. And yes it is well worth it. The pancake was awesomely fluffy and moist but not overly sweet. The service is great. Coffee is bold.
The home fries are as good as everyone says they are. Don't walk, run and order some no matter what you get!
The steak Benedict wasn't as I was expecting but everything was very well cooked and filling. Definitely generous portions.
We had no wait for 2 at 9am on a Friday.
Great local diner with a great atmosphere.
Interesting dishes, I got the Gyro omelet and cheese grits, which was filling and delicious. Waitress gave me a little glass syrup jar w/ brother juniper on the label 💯
We visited for brunch on Sunday. It was 11:30
In the morning, so fully packed. On top of it, it was the Mother’s Day - so it was even more crowded than the usual, I guess. We had to wait for about 20 minutes to get the table ready. To start- I got myself a coffee with milk ( cafe au lait). I ordered the waffle plate- which came with a big waffle, an egg, two sausage patties with a side of fries. That was how I selected- you can select from other options too. The waffle was hot and nicely done- served with maple syrup. The egg was usual, although I don’t like the oil/ butter that they used. The sausage patties ( I assume house made) were decent. The highlight was the side fries - they were absolutely perfect. The potato chunks were seasoned well, fried to the perfection, crispy from the outside and mushy from inside. Just perfect. I finished the meal, where as my friend took the remaining as to-go. She ordered an omelette ( with cheese and mushrooms). It was humongous. Overall, the place was great with a nice, lively, laid back vibe. The waiters and staff were all very sweet and friendly. I would go back again.
Update: visited again, got a potato dish with chorizo. It was pretty decent. My friend got an omelette with gyro meat. Food was good, service was fine. The mocha was decent, however, the espresso was terrible. It was more
like an americano.
Great breakfast spot! The pancakes are huge, and the breakfast potatoes are some of the best I've ever had. Today, I had the loaded grits, and they were sooooo good. Vegan and gluten-free items are marked on the menu, too.
Came right before noon with 2 friends, and we were seated right away. I was pleased with my order, and the Brother Juniper mango hot sauce earned an extra star for the food.
Voted the best breakfast in Memphis, and I can see why! I'll be sure to visit again next time I'm in town 👍
Opened a tad early and invited me inside to wait until I could be seated. Warm and generous staff provided a cup of coffee w/half & half. Everything fresh, moist and full of flavor. Bless Brother Juniper and all their day's to come.
