Small Town Pie Co

Pies were good, above average I’d say. Very expensive at $8+ per pie. But wow the attitude of the staff was atrocitious. So much attitude coming from both a brunette woman and an old blonde lady. Came back for seconds to buy cold pies for later as we were just visiting Melbourne and copped some attitude asking for sauce and asking how to reheat pies. Still not sure if her advice was sarcastic or not. Haven’t eaten pies yet. Won’t return. Souring experience after all the other lovely stores we visited at South Melbourne market which were DELIGHTFUL.

Quite a nice place with good, simple pies and pastries. I had the Waghyu Beef Pie and also the Beef Burgundy Pie which are quite good. The crust is crispy and not too soft and the beef is flavourful and chunky. The price is also quite reasonable and is one of the good, affordable food places in the market. There are no seating areas so you'll have to pack your pies and head to the food court area to sit down and eat your pies.

A chicken and mushroom pie fresh out of the oven has become something of a weekly ritual every time I come here. The pies are delicious and staff are great. It can get quite busy on the weekends around this section of the market, especially given the vicinity to the deli/butchers, but it's definitely worth checking out.
