Black Rice

The veggie burgers were great with loads of fresh spinach. The hot chips were good and we liked the herbs on them. Coming from Brisbane we felt freezing and the guy was so helpful offering to pop us in a cosy corner with the fan heater on to warm us up. So kind and thoughtful of him. The only thing they could improve is the furniture/decor. Reasonable prices

Fairly basic little cafe off Collins Street near Southern Cross station. My long black was ok and delivered speedily but it was not particularly memorable. Seating was ok but not especially memorable as was the decor. There was a little confusion with the ordering and serving which was slightly memorable. The big chip out of the saucer holding my coffee cup looked odd and serving a coffee on that said something about standards here, I thought. Maybe, maybe not. On the plus side, service was cheery and my friend and I had a good chat here without bother. Conclusion: overall it’s an ok place.

Sat down on an empty table while waiting for someone - have a broken leg and ankle and am on crutches, one of the staff came out and told me I have to move or stand as I was not eating there. This is while there are currently over 20 vacant seats/ tables at the cafe and keeping in mind only sat down to catch a breath after crutching up two flights of stairs. Would never recommend setting foot here - extremely disrespectful and disappointing for staff to treat people this way. Probably understandable why there is no one eating here while everywhere else in the court is jam packed.
