The food is amazing, we has all the of the entrees as a share meal. Fresh flavours using seasonal ingredients with a good balance in the dishes. Incredible setting of views over the gardens of the NVG.

Great food, lovely staff. There was one vegan option for each course. Pictures attached are : vegan cannelloni, lamb rack, pommes frites.

Sadly the food did not live up to expectations this visit. Though the entree (trout) was a reasonable quantity and quite delicious, the main (pork belly) was too dry with little accompanying flavours. Finally the dessert (rhubarb) though delicious was dominated with cream and ice cream with only 8 tiny 1cm squares of rhubarb, just not enough for what was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The service however was excellent.

We had lunch at The Garden with friends from interstate, and we were all very impressed. The food looked great and tasted even better. The service was very friendly and efficient. The setting was peaceful and the autumn leaves on the trees in the surrounding gardens made our stay even more enjoyable!

The Garden Restaurant is like an oasis, as soon as you enter it exudes calm and serenity. The staff are equally gracious and they make you feel most welcome. The food is fresh, beautifully balanced and impeccable in its presentation. Simply beautiful! Thank-you!

Our visit to the Garden Restaurant was a delight following our tour of the exhibition. The setting is beautiful at the rear of the gallery overlooking the well manicured gardens. The staff are friendly and professional and meet your every need. The wines were beautiful and the food very good. Well worth the visit.

Beautiful location - great food. Pricey but very nice. The garden in the back is a great place for dinner.
Right now (Jan 2020) a Melbourne restaurant - Tonka is running a pop up. The food’s pretty excellent - they have a great wine list and the staff are all very friendly.
Nice for an up market meal or a cheeky glass of wine in the back garden.
