Very stylish restaurant that provides very good service. Each meal was explained upon receiving them. We were very thankful receiving food when we requested for the terrine almost at closing time. The chefs selection was what we had ordered and the food provided was exceptional and very true to the French's methods of using seasonal ingredients. Unfortunately there were a few unavailable items on most dishes which would have been nice to experience the full extent of the dish.

Great little new modern French restaurant on Flinders Lane - slightly hidden as it lives underneath a gallery - simple design, great kitchen-bar seat where you can observe the magic being made for you. Great degustation menu options both for lunch and for dinner, and plenty a la carte takes on classics with a modern twist. Wine primarily from France. Will be visiting again and again. The Flinders Island lamd was the highlight of my lunch.

I loved it. Surprisingly good. Came in to town and stumbled on Oter. Delicious food, handled very well. French - but Canadian influenced. Can recommend the kipfler and octopus. Duck was excellent. Beef of the day just right (a skirt when we were there - smothered in butter and salt with a green peppercorn sauce). Finished off with a great tart. And very nice wines by the glass which is welcome. Potentially - need to look at a better extraction fan. Being in the basement and cooking or finishing a lot of meals on the grill created a. It of smoke. But that’s a small niggle. I’ll come back again and will be recommending it to my friends. B.

Expensive, lovely atmosphere, excellent service. Mains of lamb and fish were tasty. The Alsatian dumpling dish was weird and not at all sure why it's called dumplings as it's more like grated apple..! I probably wouldn't return as it's a tad overpriced.

Really lovely space where the old Yuu restaurant lay. Ask for a table by the kitchen - you get to see the theatre and the finesse. Staff are friendly and attentive. Good for business groups, couples and solo travellers. The real standout are the desserts... You must watch them slicing them, it's poetry. The Viennese opera cake and the lemon curd tart (pictured) were the best we've eaten.

Embarrassingly awful service. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food on a quiet night. When we politely enquired about our food's whereabouts we were aggressively told by staff that it was coming out "now". The manager was overly aggressive in dealing with our complaint about the wait time and practically threw the bill at us after telling us to leave. We paid for the wine and left feeling shocked, bullied and intimidated.

Loved this place. Vibrant atmosphere, pleasant staff, great food. Make sure to sit at the bar for greatest show in town as the chefs prepare the food orders in the large exposed kitchen.

Finally a contemporary French restaurant in Melbourne CBD! Loved every aspect of it: authentic flavours, specialist wine list, excellent service. One thing that still bothers me a bit: I don't think we were served the full bottle of wine that we had ordered. These things are difficult to establish although there were at most 3 small pours (and the bottle before was 5 pours). But then again it might just be a) us (even though we were NOT drunk) or b) a mistake from the staff or c) and I very much doubt it, outright stealing. Anyway, would still highly recommend ithis. It's early days and can only get better. (Just watch your bottle).
