This friendly little shop serves New York style pizza, with a thin, hand-made crust and it is excellent, gourmet quality. For these guys, making pizza is like making art. It is obvious that they pay attention to every pizza, every food item they make, and strive to serve the best quality possible. Their cheese and toppings are first class. I have even tried their artichoke pizza. It is quite tasty. Be warned that the shop is more or less designed for take-out. It is small and there is little room for dine-in. If it's your first date with a super-model and are looking to impress, you may find that the décor is lacking.

If you love garlic, you must try the garlic knots! They are the most amazing thing ever! Chewy and crunchy with the most delicious garlic flavor! The white pizza and calzones are also to die for! Worth the wait for fresh ingredients and spectacular flavor. Repeat customer over here, and I'll be back!

I was born and raised on Long Island, just outside the NYC line. So I know NY Pizza. Thin, crispy crust, flavorful sauce, just enough oil on the surface. Rockaway Pizza is legit. Truly delicious, and this Pizza rivals Pizza actually made in NYC pizzerias. If you haven't tried it yet, hurry the heck up. You will NOT be disappointed. The owner reached out to me. They have shakers of salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, hot pepper flakes, and parmesan cheese available behind the counter. And, pizza by the slice is available during lunch hours when demand is high enough. Seriously the best pizza I've had in forever.

I’ve been searching this city for a NY style pie for a long time…I finally found it. We ordered the margarita pizza and let me tell you, it was nothing short of phenomenal. The crust was perfectly crispy and light; the tomato sauce was fresh and sweet; mozzarella wasn’t greasy or oily like so many other pies in Pittsburgh. Everything about this pizza was hands down perfect. I can’t wait to be back.

All quality and fresh ingredients make their food stand out. Incredibly delicious and cooked to perfection both times I visited. Even straight out of the oven, right to the table - the pizza is not sloppy and holds form. It’s really how pizza should be done (in my opinion). The knots are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle but cooked all the way through as they should be - not partially raw as other places make. Rockaway has their process down pat to make for an enjoyable meal! Wish I had take better photos. The bacon artichoke knots are a must (not pictured here unfortunately) as they are dynamite!

OMG I haven't had a pizza like this in forever!!! We ordered the Frankenstein...every slice was just amazing. The last time I truly had delicious pizza like this was when I lived in Europe! It reminds of fresh pizza I had in Italy...My new go to pizza from here on out!

We tried Rockaway based on an article I read that rated local pizza shops. The article mentioned that this was a great shop with great toppings...so why not give it a try as I always pass here on the way home from work. We got the garlic knots, 1/2 of an Italian hoagie, a plain cheese pie and a pie with sweet sausage, pepperoni and fresh mushrooms. They told us 30 minutes and it was ready in 20! We get it home and OMG this is some seriously good pizza just as the article mentioned. Staff was very friendly and the shop looked to be very clean. Pizza is my most favorite food and I can guarantee that we will be back .....for sure!

I'm from New Haven, so I was born obsessive about pizza. I don't like the majority of the pizza in Pittsburgh. However, Josh is a pizza genius. Rockaway is the best pizza you can get outside of New Haven. Period. Note, Rockaway makes a New York style pizza, with some New Jersey influences such as the Red Top (our favorite). He does make a clam pie that borrows inspiration from New Haven. This place is first class all the way. I eat a lot of pizza, and if I'm not making it myself I insist on eating Rockaway pie. I was worried that the quality would suffer when he moved to the larger location, but it is every bit as good as it was in the old place.

I'm new to the area and their pizza has earned them a customer for life. I have only stepped away from old faithful(cheese pie) only once that I can remember(gramma pie) because I had company but I'm absolutely positive that I have found my go-to pizza spot for the rest of my days. I'm reminded of how delicious it is with every bite, chew, and swallow. I intend to step out of my comfort zone and explore their deep dish options after I'm done trying all of the thin crust options. No contest with other pizza shops. It's that good every time! I will be back as soon as I can. Just seeing pictures of their pizza makes my mouth salivate with desire. Not too many shops can verify that but Rockaway surely can because they are the best. No contest.
