I love to take my mother here. We have been going there for years. One of the last traditional round table seating restaurants left. As you would expect, serves southern comfort food on a rotating "Lazy Susan" style table. Known for their fried chicken, dumplins, vegetables, famous fried egg plant, and deserts, they also have various other dishes. Menu varies from day to day. Besides the good food, dining is always enjoyable as you get to meet local patrons, many from other places in Mississippi and Louisiana, as well as those from other states. Service is friendly. Prices are a little higher but worth the experience.

We have been to the Dinner Bell years ago and decided to go today. Nothing has changed! It is the same delicious food and the setting is awesome. There are several rooms with large tables in each one. On each table there is a large lazy Susan. You are seated with other people and you serve your own self. They keep the serving dishes full of delicious home cooked vegetables and meats and it is very reasonable to eat there. The Dinner Bell was originally built in 1959. Later, they added additional rooms to enlarge. It is about an hour and a half drive from Baton Rouge.

The Dinner Bell is an awesome place to eat. You sit at this big round table that you can turn and pick whatever you want to eat. The food is really good, and the people starts a conversation with one another, and everyone's like one big family. The owner, and servers are great! I think it's a wonderful place to dine!

I really want to rate it 3.5. For its history and unique vibe only. Food is very bland and mediocre. I guess its like "grandma 's " years ago although my grandmother was a fabulous cook but most people are not that lucky. I would go again with a group that wanted to eat there if that was what they wanted, but I would not go out of my way. Mostly canned vegetables. Sweet potatoes and eggplant are good. Chicken is ok. Mine was dry. So is the cornbread.

Make sure you time your trip right - only open Tues- Sunday 11-2 but worth diverting from the interstate. The experience is as much a reason to go as the food. The food!! Southern favorites like fried chicken, red beans & rice, mashed sweet potatoes, limas, lots more!

Hadn't been able to go to the Dinner Bell in years. They were still just as good as I remember. The staff was super friendly. I really enjoyed myself.

Great down home country cooking . The ladies that keep the tables filled are terrific and friendly. Recommend getting there for 11 to avoid the crowd. WONDERFUL PEOPLE
