I don't know how to express my experience in this impressive restaurant. The place...the staff...the meals...they were all impeccable! So perfect. Duck and Waffle was the must-try. Worth the wait.

We have eaten here a few times. The service got better. Joe the cook is the best. My toddler daughter loved it and my wife was all smiles. Dinner and show!

This is pretty good. The California Roll is good and the steak and shrimp is pretty good. The only thing that was off is the onion is made into a little cone and a flammable liquid is added to it light it. It smokes like a volcano. This part was cute but the onion gets a bad flavor from the effect. Other than that, the food is pretty good and I would recommend.

A really good place to eat, especially if you like to see everything cooked and done in front of you. Has a nice show! Ate here for a couple of birthdays, and the food was good. Can be kind of pricey, but overall yummy!!

Best Teppanyaki. The food is absolutely delicious and they serve you quite the generous portion. Bit pricey though.

Best Tepanyaki in Town. The quality of their food definitely matches the ambiance. I love the fillet and shrimp combination. Expert cooks and high quality ingredients make this restaurant one of my favorite dinner destination in the RGV. I also enjoy sitting at the sushi bar and making up rolls which the sushi guy will make to your liking. U gotta try it, I promise you wont be disappointed!!

Very pleased. Out of all the places in the valley for sushi this is the one I prefer. The fish is always fresh which is important for obvious reasons and the drinks are very well made. I haven't tried the hibachi so I can't comment on that.

The correct cuisine name/style. Teppanyaki... Hibachi... Teriyaki...???

The type of cooking at Hayashi and Shogun, etc. is known as Teppanyaki.

Teppanyaki (鉄板焼き teppan-yaki?) is a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food.

Modern teppanyaki grills are typically propane-heated flat surface grills, and are widely used to cook food in front of guests at restaurants. Teppanyaki grills are commonly confused with the hibachi barbecue grill, which has a charcoal or gas flame and is made with an open grate design. With a solid griddle type cook surface, the teppanyaki is more suitable for smaller ingredients, such as rice, egg, and finely chopped vegetables.

The hibachi (火鉢 "fire bowl"?) is a traditional Japanese heating device. It consists of a round, cylindrical or a box-shaped open-topped container, made from or lined with a heatproof material and designed to hold burning charcoal.

..."hibachi-style" is often confused in the U.S. as a term for Japanese teppanyaki cooking, in which gas-heated hotplates are integrated into tables around which many people (often multiple parties) can sit and eat at once. The chef performs the cooking in front of the diners, typically with theatrical flair-such as lighting a volcano-shaped stack of raw onion hoops on fire.

Teriyaki (kanji: 照り焼き; hiragana: てりやき) is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled in a sweet soy sauce marinade (tare in Japanese). Teriyaki is served in most modern Japanese cuisines.

Ceasar the sushi chef is incredible. We got the largest sashimi plate offered and it felt like a culinary holiday treat. The rolls are great and the food wonderful and the service at the bar well worth the visit.

Very well served! The habachi grill is very delicious and also the nigiris with good taste! The Japanese onion soup is not so special but is a courtesy as well as the salad.

My wife and I visited this evening and loved our dishes! The food was exceptional and service matched. The cook we had did an amazing job at cooking and entertaining the table. It was very enjoyable watching everything being prepared and served. We also ordered a sushi roll from the kitchen and were blown away by that, as well! Maybe it's just been a while since we last had sushi, but our roll was amazing! When they first sit you and bring your drink order, they present you with an onion soup. If you like the flavor of onion, you will love this soup! I highly recommend this restaurant!

The food was delicious. The cook did an awesome job on cooking and showmanship. If you have a special needs child/adult who gets scared easily, be prepared to have to help them. Service was ok. We asked for lemons and they were never brought to us. The tables needed to be cleaned better because it was very sticky from the grease build up of probably years.....
