My first time and I am so pleased to know that the Valley finally has something more to offer other than just Mexican food....no hate... I love Mexican food, but c'mon we need more variety. Loved my oxtails dish, well worth the price....somebody complained in their review about it being 80% rice...I love that they're not stingy on the rice and beans. Save some for later, don't complain about it! Lol. I'll be coming back next week for the jerk chicken 🐔 .

Wow! What a burst of flavor! Everything we had was delicious. We decided to get a variety. Our favorite was the oxtail! 😍 It was so tender and flavorful. Next favorite, the beef patties! They had this flakiness to outside breading and the meat inside was flavored so deliciously. Hubs, got the crab cakes and said they were totally worth the price. Seriously, everything we had was good: jerk chicken plate, curry chicken, the plantains, the side of cabbage, the rice and peas. We can't wait to try the goat curry, so we'll definitely be back! If you're looking for some variety, you have to try this place!

I've seen this restaurant move from different locations twice already and I never understood why until today. The idea of the Rio Grande Valley having Jamaican Jerk Chicken available in its vicinity is awesome. However the idea only works if the food is good and that is the unfortunate part of the "Jamaican Jerk Stop", there food isn't really that good. I paid 45 dollars for two Jerk chicken plates and two drinks along with two chicken patties. Take away the drinks and the appetizer each Jamaican jerk chicken plate came out to the price of at least 16 dollars each. NOT TO MENTION What came in our plates; At least 2-3 servings of a bland cold mush of "Rice and peas" LEGIT the whole plate was basically rice and beans with no flavor. On the top right corner of my plate existed a small space to where the chef laid 3 small pieces of chicken that resembled of mostly bone and no meat. I dug in to whatever chicken I had left in those bones and felt not only unsatisfied with the "try hard" flavor of the Jamaican Jerk chicken but also with everything else in general. The environment, the food, the sides, the flavor and most of all the prices are all poor with this restaurant and whatever it has left of it's soul. I rate the "Jamaican Jerk Stop" 1 STAR, in hopes it can bounce back up and rekindle whatever flame it had to enter the restaurant business to begin with.

I am a flight attendant from Trinidad on a layover from houston decide to meet some friends for dinner and went to the Jamaican jerk stop and the food was FANTASTIC!! The owner invited us in very welcoming did not expect anything less because island people are very warm . Can’t wait to return . Everyone needs to eat here
