What do you say about a restaurant that has literally made you stop chewing and just go into blank thought during your first bite of food? The food is that good. It stops you right in your tracks and transports you to a whole ‘nother place. Went there for the first time tonight for a birthday dinner and was very nervous. I’m not a picky eater, but eating a culture’s food I’ve never had before is intimidating. I read the menu and everything sounded delicious. I finally managed to pick a braised beef that is cooked in a tomato and onion sauce. It. Was. Phenomenal. I’ve never had such flavorful meat in my life. You get the option of rice and beans or sautéed veggies. I went with the rice and beans which were great. You also (depending on your meal so don’t quote me) get an option of lintel soup or chickpea salad as a small appetizer before your meal. I hose the soup which tasted like a super savory veggie soup that you know was made from scratch. Their house popular dish is their half chicken served with raspberry sauce. My friend ordered it and gave me a bite and I was blown away again. Never had I had chicken with such crispy skin while the inside stays so incredibly juicy at the same time. And to pair it with the raspberry sauce just takes it to a new level. The portions are a great size and you will probably need a box. The owner Eddie is a very nice guy as well. Makes you feel right at home as though you are there for the 100th time, even if it’s your first. The place is incredibly small but very cute and warming on the inside. You better hope you get there at a good time or be prepared to wait. All I’m going to say is if I got there and was told the wait was 2 hours, I had better hope I brought a book or something because they’re putting my name down and I’m waiting. I will be back very very soon. I seriously can’t recommend this place enough. Just do it. You won’t be disappointed.
