Wonderful dining experience! The staff is extremely polite and friendly. Their Biriyani is absolutely amazing! They make it with bone-in-meat to bring out the full flavor. And the meat falls right off bone for ease of consumption. All food is very tasty and well prepared. 5/5 would recommend to anyone looking for fresh and authentic Indian cuisine.

GREAT FOOD !! SLOW SERVICE !! Me and some of my friends visited this place for lunch buffet, when we reached there was no one around to guide or welcome us, we had to find our own place to sit and then ask one of the waiters to get us some water and if we can start with the buffet. So first impression was kind of bad because of the poor service and hospitality. We went around the buffet checking whats on the menu, to our surprise many of the items they were serving were cold and almost over, we had to ask them to replenish the dishes a few times, before they did so. This got us thinking if we should eat here or not, but then as it was a new restaurant, we wanted to try the food before we could form any opinion about Thulasi. So we waited for food, as they prepared fresh items (which were on buffet) for us and I will have to say they did not disappoint us with the taste of their food. They also prepared a couple of extra dishes just for us (Chana Masala and Mixed Veg), as we were vegetarians and there were not enough vegetarian options in the buffet. I would really suggest that they include more desserts for buffet as there was just one option for us the day we went. I don't know if that is usual. The owner and server were very polite and friendly. So, overall service - 2 stars and food quality and taste 4 stars. I can give them benefit of doubt for their slow service, as we were there kind of towards the end of the lunch hours. Hopefully next time we can have a better service experience as well and their food quality remains the same.

First things first - the food is absolutely delicious. That's why I go here as often as I do. I have to say though that the service is very SLOW (the people are nice enough, but slow). I always end up waiting an hour for my food even though there's only two or three people in the restaurant so I only get the buffet now since that's self-serve. The buffet is delicious but has pretty limited options - I can see why some people are upset about that and/or the lack of veg options. If it wasn't for the food being so delicious and being across the street from my workplace, I wouldn't come here. EDIT: Found out they only offer lunch buffets on fridays now...bummer! That was the best part about this restaurant. The manager herself admitted removing the lunch buffet was causing all the customers to literally walk out...so why did they do it? Not sure, but it's definitely going to keep me from coming here as often now.

Very nice food. Awesome south Indian cuisine. Tried the buffet. Do not miss the chicken 65 dish. It has the perfect authentic Indian street taste. The buffet is the way to go. Very cost effective. Must visit resturant in Madison

Went out to eat with my mom and two children. The buffet was very empty. Most of the food was gone (and not replaced) until we were done eating almost an hour later. Then we ordered two sodas to go, to meet $30 and use our Groupon. The lady at the register, while very friendly, took extra long with each customer while we waited with two an anxious toddler and one screaming ready for a nap. We only stayed as long as we did because we were waiting for the buffet to be filled but couldn't wait any longer. After we paid we had to wait with two upset toddlers while the lady at the register chit chatted with 3 other customers behind us. Then she came back with a can of soda, a $5 can of soda! Didn't even ask what flavor we wanted. Ultimately won't be back.

Went for lunch buffer today. Very disappointed with the vegetarian options. There were no veg appetizers and no biryabi and only 1 veg curry. Every other review mentioend that the options are plenty and good. When I asked the owner if this was normal, she was very snarky and replied that they actually have more than normal today. I would not back. 2 stars because the taste of the food was good but very very limited options for vegetarians.

We were excited by its advertised Keralite cuisine, however, in the weekend buffet, there were only 2 dishes from that region. All the other dishes were generic Indian. We are east Indians. We liked the food, but almost all other Indian restaurants in Madison serve similar, if not better, flavored items.

Keeping an open mind, not being keen of buffets, I went here today with 2 of my older family. The buffet was tiny. The Tikka Masala was really nice, as was the rice and ice cream. The Dahl soup was very spicy as was the tandoori chicken to the point of being unable to eat. I had to ask for soup bowls, Naan bread and thereally was a bit of confusion with the pakora covered in a yogurt sauce, which was on the hot buffet, but was cold. I wanted to rave about this place, I ignored the other 2 stars. Sorry but it back to the Dahba for me.
