Every dish I had was nigh on a religious experience. Fried artichoke with rosemary aioli was a revelation. The seafood risotto was creamy bliss with delicious mussels, shrimp, squid, or swordfish in every bite. And the apple cranberry bread pudding with vanilla gelato recalled the warmth of home for the holidays, even though it was August. If I would rate anything below 5 stars, it was my cocktail, the Italiana 101...that would get 4 stars. But since they brought us free glasses of Perrone white wine for our anniversary, how can I complain? The service was excellent, the atmosphere charming...I was even pleasantly surprised that the bill was "only" $70 and change. For a meal this good, that was a pretty good bargain.
We booked the Chef's "Kitchen Table". We had a private huge booth to ourselves and a view of the kitchen. Definitely entertaining. Then the chef prepared us a 5 course dinner and the sommelier paired it with wines. He was our server as well. Chef delivered the dessert and spoke to us for a few moments. It couldn't have been more lovely.
