The Shack

The best brisket in the panhandle, hands down. Juicy and smoked to perfection with an insanely delicious bark. So good we ended up taking home another half pound for later. It's not just the brisket though...the sausage was great but not too greasy, ribs were tender and fell off the bone, and the sides I had were excellent. The pinto beans are made with little bits of brisket and just enough pepper to give them a little kick, the mac and cheese had a great taste and texture and, unlike most BBQ joints, you get generous portions of everything. Will make any excuse to come back to Lubbock to eat here!

Great BBQ! Had the Brisket and Beef Rib. Very tender. Sauces were great, ranging from sweet to extreme spicy. Sides were solid, we got the coleslaw which tasted fresh and the loaded potato salad was good as well. Too bad the Mac n Cheese and Collard Greens were sold out so I didn't get to try them. Banana Pudding to finish it off and it was all worth it. The only negative thing I can say is that their bread is plain and if they toasted it it would be perfect.

Truly excellent barbecue. Stopped on a whim during a road trip, we knew we were in for a treat as there was a line forming before they even opened. A very friendly lady took our order and helped us pick a few things. The chicken was the best barbecue chicken we've ever had, perfectly cooked, amazing seasoning. The brisket and the sausage were also excellent, the pulled pork was a bit sweeter than we usually go for but delicious. I highly recommend the loaded baked potato salad and the green chili mac as sides, both were worth the trip all by themselves. If we ever find ourselves near Lubbock again we'll definitely have to stop by.

Revised review 4.24.22 Open at 11 Thursday- Sunday until sell out. Great food as always. They have an dining room as well as an outdoor covered patio - both are nice size and clean. Be sure to try some of the best BBQ in Lubbock!! This place is deceptive - looks small, but is much bigger than you think. Good BBQ, dont wait too late though. They are open till they sell out, which can be quick.

Called the Shack to cook me a Brisket for my birthday. Everything went according to plan at pickup. When I got home and unwrapped the brisket, the bark was beautiful and the aroma was out of this world. I started slicing it up and sampling the goods at various point. Melt in your mouth brisket with an unforgettable flavor, taste and smell. I told everyone that came to my birthday party that I slaved over my smoker all night trying to make it perfect. Everyone was shocked that I had produced such a great brisket from the cheap smoker in my back yard. By the end of the night I let everyone off the hook that I had in fact purchased it from “The Shack.” Scott and the team were so easy to deal with.
